Savage 10 FCP

I had a Savage 10 fcp-k. Very accurate! 2 things I didn't care for: accutriger and the stock was to low to get a good cheek weld. Accutriger was very crisp and light but if you racked the bolt to fast then it would disengage the trigger. You'd have to re-rack the bolt. Wouldnt be good in a situation where a second fast follow up shot was needed.

I own two Savage model 10's, a 223 10fp and a 308 10fcp-hs. Both are excellent shooters and reasonably priced for their level of accuracy. I would buy another Savage without hesitation.

I have two Savage 10s also: a 223 10fp and a 308 fcp-k. The 223 is a half moa shooter and the 308 shoots 3/4moa. They both get shot a lot and cleaned infrequently. When the barrels are shot out Ill be able to either re-barrel them myself or have it done for less than $100 labor. Ive taken several precision rifle courses with them and while they are almost always the least expensive rigs in the course, I end up shooting as well as anyone else. I happen to like the accutrigger. I changed the stock on the 223 to a Bell & Carlson and added a kydex cheekrest to the 308, so both rifles fit me well. In my opinion, they are great shooters at their price point. Are they better than Tikka or Remington? That wasn't the question you asked, but I'm sure others will offer their opinions.

I like my 10 FCP HS-Precision

Mine has the HS-Precision stock on it. It's a shooter and a keeper. ;)

You are welcome to browse my Savage 10 FCP HS-Precision review.

I finished mine off with a Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 FFP mil/mil optic. Can't say enough nice things about it.

yzguy87....you couldn't adjust your trigger to resolve that problem?

I have a Savage 111 that I just installed a 270 barrel on. It shoots like a champ. It probably took me 45 minutes to finish the work and it was my first time doing this kind of thing. Savage all the way for me.

Regards, Pablito

I don't have the FCP but I have had the Model 10 PC for a while now. I love it! I'd say it has to be my favorite rifle. I need to sign up for a precision rifle class somewhere so I can really stretch the legs on it. The longest range around me is about 300 yards and shooting bowling pins at that range gets boring after a while.

The bolt does have a bit of play in it. If you have any downward pressure on the bolt handle it could kick your tang safety ON. It's annoying but can be fixed with an aftermarket bolt body. Also, the back of my bolt worked it's way loose at the range once. Luckily I had the right size Allen wrench in my truck to tighten it up. Other than that I can't think of any negatives.

arizona98tj, I could have but didn't have it for long. I sold it to buy an old bronco but that deal fell through. I ended up with no bronco and no gun:banghead:

Truth be told, I kick my self every time I think about it and I wouldnt hesitate to buy another. When I got another 308 I went with a DPMS 308. It too was nice but that's a story for a different thread:)

Sorry to hear about the rifle/bronco situation. That stinks for sure! If you see another 10 FCP, grab it! You'll feel better when you do. As for 4x4s, I prefer a Jeep. That too is a story for a different thread. ;)

Having owned my savage 10 fcp sr, for a little while finally hit the 100y mark to try out some handloads, 5 shot group managed a .825" with an old super sniper scope. Such great bolt action rifles for the money. Awesome trigger and accurate barrels, so satisfied.....I'm looking at their .223 versions now:)
