My Savage Scout weighed 7 1/4 lbs.
At the time I had a Remington Model 7 that was 6 1/4 lbs. and was equally as accurate. No longer have this gun either.
I have a stainless Ruger MK-2 that I have added iron sights to that weighs 7 lbs even. It is a bit more accurate than the Savage.
My Tikka weighs 6 lbs 2 oz. It is way more accurate as well as cheaper than the Savage or Remington.
I sold several guns, including the Remington and Savage, to finance the new Kimber I have recently bought. It weighs 5 lbs 2 oz and so far is right up there with the Tikka in accuracy.
I have listed all weights without scopes. The Tikka is in 30-06, the others are 308.
If you really, really want the scout scope set-up the Savage, or Ruger Frontier is probably the easiest way to go. I decided it was not the best method to mount a scope for me.
Another thing to remember is that the Savage package guns sold at Walmart and other chains are great bargains for the money. Buying one of the other Savage rifles will cost as much or more than a comparable Ruger, Remington, or Tikka. I did some work for someone and received my Savage Scout as partial payment, so I had almost nothing in the gun.
