110 if it has the accu trigger. Otherwise, I wouldn't really care too much as the Stevens 200 is basically just the older 110 without the accu trigger.
A 110 with the accutrigger would be a great rifle in .223. If you want a "beater", why not look for a used one? I once found an old 110 in .30-06 for under $170, and it was extremely accurate, even though it was pre-accutrigger.
Savage pre Accutrigger triggers are easy to adjust down to a nice crisp trigger pull. Just do some reading and go slow.
If you are buying an older 110 be aware that the 110 J made in the 70s has a non standard action screw spacing. Not an issue if you keep the original stock but a real bear if you wish to upgrade.
I have a Steven's 200 in .223. It is not my beater gun (I use a couple of SKSs for that). It is topped with a Nikon Pro-staff 3x9x40 in Real-tree camo. It makes one hole 5 shot groups with Prvi-Partisan 75 grain match ammo. For less than $500 for rifle, scope and trigger assist,it is a real value if accuracy is the goal.
is the privi partisan (sp?) Brass or steel case. If its that good, ill stop buying expensive black hills ammo and stop reloading my own.
The 200's can be really accurate rifles. That specific desing is amasing and just plain works. If your looking for a beater, I agree with the above when they say look for a used rifle. I love my 110 in 308. Its a pre accutrigger with a super crisp trigger with no over travel. Savage rifles are built well, and hold up to abuse.
The Prvi Partisan is BRASS cased. I use it in several different calibers and it is accurate in everything I have. I tried Brown Bear 62 grain (steel cased) ammo with less than stellar accuracy. The 75 grain bullet seems to be the perfect match for my 1:9 twist.
