I think I'd want to shoot it at 35 or so yards BEFORE trading, as most of the Savage 24's "don't" shoot BOTH bbls to the sights at the same time. (read poorly regulated!)

In addition, these are very different platforms. Your .30-30 will easily take a deer out to 200 yards; I wouldn't want to go past 100 with a .357, but that's me. I have and very much like my 24, but it's a .22mag/20 and is clearly intended for varmint and small game; it is excellent in that capacity. Much as I like the idea of a .357/20 combo as a novelty, I would have no use for it. So be clear on what your intended use is before pulling the trigger.

I have plenty of deer rifles, I've only shot the 30-30 a few times and never hunted it. I have a 24 in 22/410 and love it, just thinking that the .357 combo would be a nice woods combo. Not to mention the rarity of the chambering.

You are coming out ahead on that trade if the gun is in good shape. It is not a common configuration and commands a premium.
