Well, my .308 build is finally done, went through alot of different things, finally settled on this. Should have posted this about 4 months ago when I actually finished it.

Savage 12FV
Richards Microfit Stock- "Tack Driver" in royal Camo, I finished it with Danish Oil-Natural
Warne Bases and Low rings
Super Sniper - 10x
A embossed sling I had laying around, to be replaced soon.
The Bolt was sent to South Dakota for the Helical fluting.
I spent a quite a few hours polishing the action, then disasembling the bolt, bolishing everything, then jewling. The result is sooo much better than it was, action is the smoothest I have seen, for a rifle of $1000 price range.
Harris 9-13 bipod
I Also bedded the stock with acra-glass, the new gel stuff, it did a good job
And to finish it off, a New recoil pad to make LOP to 15 1/4 inches.

It weighs in at 14.7 pounds, is quite comfortable to carry around all day, well, for me. My hunting experience was good with this rifle, walked about 13 miles, then at dusk shot a "doe" with 1 in. horns at about 365yds. This rifle will shoot better than me, but is somewhat picky about what it shoots. With black hills match I have acheived a group the size of a dime, (unfortunatly, my shooting is basically never this good) But with remington core-lokt, at 100yds it shot into about 4in:what: On average, with federal, black hills, and some winchester, it shoots about 1MOA, but once it hits about 400yds, the groups are rather bad, due to my lack of skill at judging the wind, but each time I get alittle better. 1/2 MOA groups are not as frequent as I would like, but that is due to the shooter, not the gun. I have never really had a chance to benchrest this rifle so I have no clue what it can really do. I like the Super Sniper Scope because of fixed 10 power, just turn the parralax to the right yardage, and you are good to go. It is a very tough scope, the clicks are nice and crisp, the elevation knob is alittle mushy, but I can live with that. I really really like the toughness of this scope, I use it as a carry handle when I am tired of the sling. The stock is a great deal for the money, took about 2-3 weeks longer for it to arrive than the website said, but it was worth the wait. The inletting was alittle to deep at the action, but the bedding fixed that. I am very pleased with this stock, makes this 15 pound gun quite easy to shoot offhand, it also shoots comfortably from kneeling and prone.

I have tried to summarize this rifle, my first rifle, and my first build, I doubt that I will ever sell this gun. If you have any questions just ask, I will answer to the best of my ability.

Yes, I polished the race ways. Using a lathe and a few chisels, alot of patience, and quite a few :cuss: I made a replica of the bolt body and lugs out of oak. I then attached 800grit aluminum oxide cloth, and then a short rod to serve as a handle, I think that after about 75 strokes everything was polished up nicely. But the semi-trick part about it was holding the bolt release down the entire time.

wow i never thought i would call a savage pretty (i have 10FP in .308) but yours fits the description and more. how much was the bolt fluting by the way?
