Savage 99 ID

Just brought it home, 99 made in 1950, chambered in .300 Savage. Solid frame, 24" bbl, and steel buttplate... Does anyone know what actual model it is? Thinking EG?

there should be a stamp on the front of the trigger guard just above the hinge for the lever.
My guess is an "E" model. I think there is a site called "savage99.com" that gives references and dates of mfg.
I have the same model dated 1951. Awesome guns , mine is still really accurate with handloads, 3 shots 3/4" & 5 shots @1-1/4"

Check with the Savage Collectors on 24hourcampfire.com and they will tell you exactly what you have. The letter code above the lever is not the model number. Douglas Murray wrote a book on the Savage 99 which is a good reference.
