Savage Axis I magazines: does anyone know FOR SURE the difference between .308 and .30-06 mags

All Axis rifles are long action so the magazines are the same length as far as I know. I have a .308 Axis without a magazine and they have become rare/expensive. Wondering how hard modifying a .30-06 Axis magazine would be. Is it a plastic spacer? Are the feed lips different lengths?

I have a Savage .308.i just had it out yesterday actually. There is no spacer in, on or around the magazine. I will see if I can remember to get a picture of the magazine soon.

Can't be done. Although the Axis rifles are all the same action length, they have short action magazines and long action magazines and they are not interchangeable. You can't mod one to work with the other either.
