i think a coil spring could be made to fit in there to.i think the easiest, cheapest, option would be to wedge a piece of compressible material between the mag body and latch.
nother possible solution....tho how many folks have 700 magazine parts laying around.View attachment 848581 View attachment 848582
sounds like you ate to much lol.ive got a kanakattack....gonna go lay down. ill cut up that spring and see what i can do about affixing it to the magazine later.........
yeah, i made breakfast........sounds like you ate to much lol.
That dosent surprise me, savage overstates the comfortable round count of thier centerfeed mags by 1/2 a round IMO. Load them with 3 and they should stop snaping off. Ive always had to FORCE that 4th round into any of mine, and eventually just gave up on itthis is what we were doing to keep the bottoms from getting lost, i would use the dremel and make a trench the epoxy it after they broke.

yeah, that should be doable also. might try that first it would only take a couple holes and twisting up a springi think a coil spring could be made to fit in there to.
you could drill a hole in the center of the tab the size of the spring, and counter sink in the plastic on the mag body. if you make the hole size just right you can thread the spring in the hole and use some epoxy to hold it.yeah, that should be doable also. might try that first it would only take a couple holes and twisting up a spring
agred, i don't mind a cheap rifle but the axis needs extra work that coast money to make it work reliably. the extra cost like you said brings it to the ruger and 1500 price range.I think the biggest problem is that, short of Savage pricing the spare magazines into the "semi-disposable" catagory, any permanent fix for this problem will likely add $40-100 to the cost of a $300 gun, at which point the Ruger American, T/C Dimension, Howa 1500, and Mossberg Patriot all start to look comparable without this inherent design flaw.
I really, really wanted to love my Axis, but this magazine issue is infuriating.
