I just bought this gun and my grouping with a Federal American Eagle 55 grain is very poor. Anybody know what a good choice would be for a factory ammo round for this gun? Thank you

Was that full metal jacket ammo? Cheap FMJ ammo is usually not going to give good accuracy results.

Try something with a match or varmint bullet. Nosler ballistic tips or open tip match. Sierra Blitz King or Game King or Match King, Hornady V-Max, A-Max or Open tip match.

Black Hills and Federal Premium are often considered great ammo for accuracy.

I personally got great accuracy out of my .22-250 using 45 grain Winchester White Box hollow point ammo.

Feed it better ammo. I have a 12FV in .223 and with handloaded 55gr Vmax bullets, I get consistent 1/4" groups at 100 yards.

My 12 LRPV loves Black Hills ammo for accuracy. Mine shoots best with 68-75 gr. bullets but some of the lighter stuff does very well too. And the Sierra Matchking bullets seem to work best of all. It's been tough to find it during the pain times though. I'd suggest trying some of the Hornady stuff around. It should group much better than what you're using.

as others have said, try some of the match or varmint loadings. my ruger predator likes the 60 gr v-max loaded by black hills.

what kind of groups are you getting with the ae 55 gr?

what is your capability with other rifles?

As others have said, Black Hills in the blue box has been available at different places in various loadings and is quality stuff for "remanufactured". I shot some of the PRVI match yesterday in an AR, both the 69 and 75 grain, and both did well. The 69 seems to be a little more available at the moment.

Thanks for the link Ramone. That's the exact ammo my Savage likes. They do make good ammo and the reloaded stuff is just as good as the new (it costs nearly as much too). I've had some truly great batches of ammo from them but like all off the shelf ammo the lot number can make a difference. If you find some that your rifle really likes, and you don't shoot it enough to make reloading worthwhile, you should stock up while you can.
