http://savagearms.com/firearms/finder/ I have this gun but the finish is rusted pretty bad and there are some large scrapes down to the bare metal, I had tried to unscrew the barrel (thats the only way you can get to the internals) but even tho i had a pad inbetween the pliars and barrel it still scraped the finish off :banghead: Anyway I'm just trying to get the rust off and possibly refinish it, any ideas? I would need a guide as I'm NOT a gunsmith. Would it be better to just send it to a professional? If so how much would it cost (for a full cleaning and refinishing) I also have a question, would you recomend i keep oil on my sigm400 externals?

The barrel is not screwed into the receiver.
It is a loose slip fit, and is held in place by part #77, Front Stud.
Page 12 in the owners manual:

Unscrew the stud, and the barrel will fall out.
Use 0000 Super Fine steel wool & oil to remove the rust.
Yes, a light coat of oil on your SIG metal parts would be wise.
