Savage Stance

They have manufacturing capacity and this type of gun is selling well right now. Hunting is becoming a smaller portion of the firearms community so it makes sense for them to diversify.

I'm sure a lot of people were even more skeptical when Glock burst onto the scene when all of their previous experience was in manufacturing knives and curtain rods :D.

People still are skeptical regarding Glock after all the years….

Stay safe.

wow... what a trendsetter Savage is!

Good catch on the Honor Guard similarities. I was hoping Savage would enter the handgun market but wanted it to be something more classic like a Bren Ten 10mm resurrection. This is just another boring striker fired pocket gun in a market full of them. It doesnt look like a horrible pistol just kind of blah vanilla in a saturated market where everything looks the same. Good marketing entering into a market is to bring something new to the table that grabs attention. This isnt it. I am sure it will have some youtube videos though.

Honestly I would be more interested if Savage bought the tooling and brought all the new Remington pistols back into production with a few tweaks and options.

At least with Remington's late offerings before bankruptcy they had some novel pistols coming out the RM380 and R51, granted older designs but at least it they weren't swimming with all the other fishes (another single stack polymer Glock clone).

How about something innovative? Or nostalgic?

I would have been grabbing for my wallet at a newly made Savage M1907, those sleek lines were ahead of it's time. Such a classy pistol.

Doesn’t look terrible and can be had with 10 rd mags. Looks to want to compete with the hellcat and 365.

let’s see where price and reliability settles in might be worth a look. Though I already have a security 9 compact that holds 10.

HaHa ..... Pretty sly move for Savage to move in on Mossberg MC1 market share.

If its a good pistol everything is fine. Always nice to have more options and sleepers on the market. Pocket Nines used to be a radical thing....30 years ago. Savage just needs a little better timing. Next year maybe they will get better dialed in and bring out a Glock 19 ripoff. That could really turn the industry on its head.

Remington RP9 and RP45 had potential as well. Those could have been pretty easily adapted to be modular multicaliber platforms in 9mm, 38 super, 40S&W, 45acp, 357 Sig and most likely 10mm. Outside the magazine blunder they were not bad and extremely overbuilt. I am kind of Hoping all three of those Remington pistol designs make a come back. I never heard where the tooling went though.

Ambidextrous caught my attention. If it is so with me being left-handed that caught my attention. Also, I have no problem with the magazine capacity as the S&W Shield 9X19mm which is my EDC as the same capacity.

Does anyone see the resemblance to the Honor Defense Honor Guard??

Corporate acquisition maybe??

I was just thinking the other day: whatever happened to Honor Defense? Looks kind of like you answered that question for me.

Good detective work!

Honor Defense was getting sued out of business last time I checked. Kind of a bummer. I think it was a cop who dropped the gun and shot himself. I kind of liked the Honor Guard and was waiting for a second gen version. I try to support new American startup gun manufacturers even if they start a little rough.

These new little Savage 9mms may be all right..... Just kind of boring. The Mossberg isnt a bad little pistol. The Savage looks to be modular... thats good. Ported slide????? I guess thats so dust and dirt can enter the gun easier? Smart move there....looks really Savage! Single stack isnt the end of the world. No double strike capability is a big turn off for me. If they can get the street price 250 and below it will probably sell.... if it works. I might be willing to try one for $200 or so because I like modular pistols. Factory needs to offer spare parts though.

I guess they could cut the slide for an optic, thread the barrel, call it tactical super duper whatever and throw some zombie paint on it if they cant attract any movement in the market.

I apologize for the snarky tone. My son and I were at the Gun shop the other day looking and he told me everything looks the same......he is 8. I said yup! I had to let him look up the new Automags when we got home to get him excited about pistols again.

It took 23 posts before someone noticed the obvious.
It explains the capacity and everything, it's literally the same gun. It's more similar Kimber Mako to BB-6: they did not just buy the design, they bought the whole production line.
Hopefully they plan to add a "Plus" version once they got this line up and running. S&W Shield shows how it can be done.

S&W did it with the Shield and Mossberg did it with the MC1sc. I suspect Savage is smart to get experience with production of an existing product rather than diving head-first into the unknown.

Well, I just now found out about this Savage Stance and as I was doing internet research this thread popped up.

What I like about it.
1) Very small with a 3.2inch barrel.
2) Good sights.
3) It should fit easily in my front pocket.
4) Price is...less than $500
5) I can make custom handloads

So far, that's about it.

Your opinions: on a better alternative to having a 9mm pocket rocket that will not require a holster?

I would probably steer you to a Beretta Nano or APX carry. If you need a manual safety the Stance (Honor Guard) might be worth a shot. Might want to hold off until the reviews come out. The Honor Guard had a drop safe issue if my memory is right. Not sure if it ever got resolved. If this is in fact an upgraded and improved Honor Guard I am glad to see that pistol continue to be made.

Personally.... I like the Keltec p11 for subcompact 9mm firepower but those are out of date now so no fad-gun coolness factor which will turn off most folks.

If you are a real man you could grab the original Detonics Pocket 9 but I would warn against just dropping it in your front pocket unless you are looking to knock out your front teeth when your face hits the floor.

IMO, is not too hard to see why...

More states going shall issue, demand is still very high with supply having trouble keeping up,,, and everyone seems to recommend a plastic subcompact.

A few short years ago rarley did anyone frown upon another me too AR supplier in a similar market.

Whether or not it's a profitable decision is another story.

I'd rather have another ammo manufacturer, though.
(yes, I realize the start up costs are hugely different)

ALL pocket rockets require a holster!!

No name calling here. But you are asking for an accident if you bypass a holster.

There are plenty of thin, non bulky Kydex holsters out there that work for larger pistols.

Nice P11. Looks like my Jogging gun. I still look for good deals on those. P11 design is one of those designs I always end up going back too even after trying the new flavor of the month gun. I am always looking up p11s or clones of them. Just a wonderfully designed pistol. Been working on a 380acp conversion lately.
