Hello everyone I have a quick question about a stevens rifle being interchangeable with a savage rifle. Well i was in Gander Mountain this morning and looking through the used guns and i came upon a 30-06 stevens rifle. I'm not sure what model it is but it is almost identical to my savage model 110, the only difference that I could find was the stevens had a checkered stock and iron sights while my savage does not. what I would like to do is replace the barrel and make it a 25-06 since i already own a 30-06 and get a new stock for it since the original is all scratched up and dinged. So would this rifle take a savage barrel and stock or would i have to replace the parts with all new stevens parts?

The Stevens should be nearly identical to the (pre-Accutrigger) Savage...

It should not be a problem.

Figure the Stevens is to a Savage as a Plymouth was to a Dodge.

For that matter, a Chevy Cheyenne to a Silvarado.

The Stevens is just a pre-accutrigger Savage from everything I have seen. Should be able to interchange barrels and stocks, as long as the accutrigger models don't require different inletting which is a simple process by the way.

Stevens

Should co- witness or be almost the same. This keeps up we'll need a Stevens section here. My 200 308 is due Tuesday. Although it has a nice dual pillar bed system, I will probably replace it with a Choate Sniper stock. Boyd's has thumb holes for it and I think a 22-06 is a short action? Go above and beyond or search for some one pulling one off. I want mine to to have a drop magazine box some how.

a few years aqo, Savage developed and marketed the AccuTrigger on their rifles; this in turn drove up demand and prices increased; some people found they couldn't afford or didn't want the accutrigger feature; Savage reintroduced the Stevens name with rifles that are not equipped with the Accutrigger; they also are baren of sights or optional wood stocks; when Savage updated their polymer stocks for the Savage line, they kept the old stocks for the Stevens line for the first few years; be prepared to have the Stevens triggers worked on if you are used to a light & crisp trigger; a few other tricks that Savage uses to keep prices down...they offer the Stevens line in blued with gray stocks only; they use their older button reamers to start the rifling process and use new ones to do the finishing work...you get a stripped down work truck (Stevens) in a world that is increasingly demanding leather seats, wood dashes, and luxury amenities in their daily driver pickup trucks...Stevens work, just don't expect match grade performance and you'll be fine
