Will a stock made for a savage short action fit a Stevens short action?

Will barrels for a Savage fit a Stevens?

I would believe they would since they are basically the same rifles, but just want to be sure.

Thanks, Chase

Bump... anyone?

Plus would a barrel from a 10FP in .223 fit it? I want a 1 in 7 barrel.

BTW I have researched this and cant find an answer.

From what I have read you may run into problems with the latest run of the Stevens line. The internal box magazine is of a new center feed design. I have heard that the new design does not fit in other stocks. Of course my two weeks of having a cold may help me be wrong. Someone else will post soon to help you.

Chains is correct about the centerfeed/staggered feed. The stocks are basically identical it is how the magazines attach that is different. Staggered they are attached to the rifle, while the center feed is attached to the stock. The best information on savages can be found at http://savageshooters.com/SavageForum/index.php
More Savage knowledge there than anywhere else on the planet, plus they are nice.

The new center feed actions have a different action screw spacing and attachment method. The barrel attachment is the same, however, on all nonAccustocked models, same thread, nut, shank size, etc. iirc. You can find take-off barrels and stocks at Savage Shooters cheap. Also hit up Krochus with a PM as I believe he is building a 200, too, and he's pretty knowledgeable.
