I went to Thunder Range today along FM 1314 between COnroe and Porter , Texas. The range also had several firearms for sale and I saw this nice Winchester shotgun, Im not sure if it s a 1200 or 1300 but it has a nice woodstock and a deer slug barrel RS maybe 22 -24 inch long. Takes 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells . Didnt say if IC or Cylinder. It has no choke so I assume it must be a fixed bore. With the RS it could be IC bore. I looked at the serial no(receiver side) and it starts with L xxxxxxx. Anyone have any idea when this is produced?
I felt the inside of the barrel from the muzzle end and its smooth to touch, no rifling at all. I racked the slide and its sleek . Looking at the rotary bolt face indicates its slightly used. Hmm , im thinking I may want this shotgun. The owner said he can give it to me for $300 OTD. What do you think?

Oh I remember now, the receiver says Winchester Ranger. It could be the WInchester 120 model Deer Slug.

All shotguns have a degree of choke--what you're talking about is interchangeable choke tubes. It is likely cylinder or improved cylinder as you suggested. If you could look down the barrel form the breech end you could tell easily.

If you like it and have the money--why not?

I had thought that the 1200 took only 2 3/4" shells and the 1300 would take the 3" shells. The price seems quite a bit high to me. A local dealer here had a similar one for $240 on the shelf for 6 months and finally someone gave him $220 for it. He was almost ready to come down to my offer of $200.

I searched about that particular model and it is rated below the 1200. Prices are around $200-250. Yeah I realized the price he gave me was way too high. I ll pass for now.
