I’m not overly familiar with old muskets, I recognize a lot of names and some of there history but the physical differences aren’t common place in my mind.

With that said I was in old hardware store today and the guy had some wall space designated to the store history. Lots of old hardware stuff, photos and a very interesting old musket. The only thing he knew about it was it belonged to the guy that opened the store originally in 1902, and he said the stock had some notches on the other side.
I couldn’t get very close to it as hardware crap was piled up on the floor several feet from the wall, but I did manage to get a couple pics.

I could clearly see US stamped in it. I think I could read 1826. Anyway it was interesting and I just thought I’d share it. He are the (terrible) pics.

It was originally an 1816 Harpers Ferry .69 smoothbore but the barrel has been replaced with something else and the stock was cut down.
Thats detailed. Thanks for that information.

I wish I knew more about the old muskets, looking at it I wouldn’t be surprised if it was still in shootable, I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t either.

Either way it was an interesting thing to see randomly hanging on a hardware store wall.
