I've owned mine for about 8 years now. I has always functioned flawlessly, even with range reloads for practice. I did upgrade it with an MCarbo trigger and it made a huge improvement in the trigger pull and my accuracy with it. Have never need it, but I understand their warranty service is highly regarded as well.

Not sure what model but a female relative got on some years back. Shortly after she told me she was getting it I persuaded her to take a 200 round class with me. The first couple of strings of fire we did she had a couple of failure to feeds. One of the instructors looked at it for a minute, squirted some oil on the rails & it ran like a champ for the rest of the class. I had no idea her husband would send her to the class with a new firearm that had not been cleaned & lubed.
I voted, "Fine as a basic carry gun."

I would be interested to learn why the people referring to these as, "garbage," have that opinion.
So would I. Mine has been flawless. A trigger upgrade helped. It isn't the equal of my HK VP9SK, and wouldn't expect it to be. But it fires every time I pull the trigger, and with reasonable accuracy at self defense distances.

So, what are all those other brands that are double action only, second strike capable guns to choose from??
asking for a friend :uhoh:
.

Who said that was a criteria?? The OP sure didn't?? What is the great need for second strike? I have a few, but never needed it. Maybe Sccy needs second strike because they don't work??
Just want to argue or what?

Look around you will find some. How about a SW MP BodyGuard 380?? OP is open to DAO or DA/SA with a decocker opens the flood gates for even more
Sig p290RS. I have both

"Anyone have or have shot a SCCY pistol? A set of disposably-priced .380 and/or 9 mm guns would be appealing. Hammer-fired DAO or DA/SA with decocker (no safety) is my preferred carry type, so these look about right. Not going to use 'em for Bullseye shooting, so as long as they're fairly reliable, drop safe and the trigger doesn't feel like it's literally cutting through a Brillo pad soaked with sand they should be acceptable.

Terribly marketing on these, BTW. I believe they want you to pronounce the name "sky," but I can't imagine anyone wouldn't read it as "sucky," particularly at this price point."

um...
Your post I quoted was specifically ABOUT the SCCY, not anything else, so why jump back to what the OP posted?
I don't see any guns listed in your response with the attributes of the SCCY, and I'm not interested in your back peddling switcheroo here.
Take the last word here but know that I'm thru with any back and forth with your continued negativity.
jmo,

I've probably got close to 1k rds thru my CPX2. No reliably issues, so I'll give them credit for that. That's the only reason why I've kept mine for back up and glove box duty. The triggers are crap and the recoil is very snappy compared to my G3c, EC9s, and P365.

If someone is tight with money
Get a Taurus G2C or G3C

SCCY also offers a striker fired model

The sexy is a modified version of a kel tec p11. It’s DAO (...) I have heard of them having ND issues.
The AD part always piqued my curiosity. How could a DAO gun have an AD? And, they are clones of P11, and nobody ever complained about an ND with one of those. The one time a member of THR described an AD or ND with SCCY, he left it on the table with other family members present and allegedly it went off. A likely story! If all the other cases are like this, it's no different from all the P320 lawsuits.

You know I think that’s where I got it from to. Now that I think about it I believe they a cocked fully by the trigger pull that’s why they have a greater pull. Seems nigh impossible now that you mention it. My son had one for a minute but I never shot it. Growing up I thought the p11 seemed like a handy package. I don’t need another 9mm. But I would prolly buy one for a fishing gun.

I have a CPX2, it stays in a hidden travel get home bag. Doesn't take up a bunch of space.

It was run with a bunch of +p+ 9, felt good, hit targets OK. No complaints @$170.

If it gets pinched in a break-in I haven't lost anything too expensive.

It is hard to do it right, but never underestimate determined children. I know of many families where they open child-proof medicine bottles for their mothers. After 3 years old they are capable of driving a dinner fork through the trigger guard and use it as a lever.

I bought a CPX-3 in 2019, and I really liked it. I'm a fan of DAO triggers, and it was 100% reliable and fairly accurate, although there was no question that it was a budget gun in terms of build quality. Then after about 1800 rounds, I started getting malfunctions, mostly FTEs. At around 2500 rounds, I finally called customer service. When I told the guy it had 2500 rounds, his response made me realize that they don't expect their guns to be shot that much. He sent me a new RSA and that helped, but it was never the same and I got rid of it.

An acquaintance bought one, had trouble with it, sent it back to the mothership, and it's worked ok the last I knew.
It's a matter of getting what you pay for.

yea, snappy recoil seems to be a tradeoff for easy racking.
Gallaway has a lot of farkles for the SCCY, including a 20# recoil spring set, stock is16#.
Here's a carry kit with all the good stuff:
Turn-Key Carry Kit for SCCY CPX-1 and CPX-2 Pistols > Galloway Precision

I bought one for my wife because she liked the color:), it has never given a problem, I know about 6 or 8 others with one problem and we found it was with the mag and they sent him 3 total new mags. I wouldn't hesitate purchasing another if the price was reasonable.

I handled one in a store and couldn't believe how long and heavy the trigger was. I'm sure they work, but goodness a Taurus can be bought for not much more and have a better trigger.

Speaking of SCCY and Taurus, I see there's a rebate for them and it is interesting to see that the budget pistols are having all these rebates now. They must not have sold well this year.

WE have 2, mine and my wifes. We haven't had any problems with them, they shoot well and I can maintain good accuracy at 5, 7 and 10 yards. A better note is that my wife, who has a bit of trouble with maintaining accuracy with any pistol due to affects from old injuries, can maintain good accuracy at these ranges. We use the ranges for the CCW accuracy requirement.
