School me on S&W 357 revolvers.

Maybe it depends on your hand size? My smoothest DA trigger of all my 357's and 38's is easily my S&W N frame Model 28 (it has a less expensive finish than the original Model 27). Maybe the bigger frame allows better geometry for the parts? It certainly fits my XXL hands better. Maybe I got lucky and it just has an extra-nice trigger. I dunno.

I won it for a bid in the low $400's a year or so ago. Its finish is a bit worn and it has aftermarket grips. Anyway, the DA trigger is ridiculously good.

I've only owned one Ruger handgun, a "Security Six" back about 40 years ago. Wasn't a favorite and as soon as I bought my well, very well used S&W 28-2, the Ruger went bye bye, never to be missed. Since then, I've owned several S&W revolvers, all older pre lock ones. I don't really like the new ones much. Between the S&W N frames, and the Dan Wesson 15-2's and 715's I've owned, I don't see much need for any other brands, but I do have a SAR sr38, which is a clone of an S&W 586 for the most part. It's not bad at all.

That gun looks exactly like my old 28-2, same grips, maybe a little better finish. That gun had an action job and I found it on GB about 13 years ago and sadly lost the auction when I forgot about it until it was too late. I loved that thing. It had some PD markings on the grip frame, but I don't remember what they were. It was made in 1958 or so, and judging by the looks of the muzzle, in a holster that had one side exposed and the left side against leather. Both sides had a lot of wear to them, but only the holster side had almost no bluing left.

A good friend convinced me that an N frame would fit my man paws much better than a K frame. She had purchased a Model 28 and liked it a lot. Yeah, she was completely correct. It feels perfect in my hands and points pretty much all by itself. It took me a few weeks to find one at a good price on GB. IIRC, it's from the 1970's.
