Seater tips when switching bullets

I have a couple of combos of bullets for a particular caliber that I've settled on, but I find it kind of a pain when swapping between them and getting the OAL length just right.

I was wondering if you guys had some tips, or maybe it is beneficial enough to go buy a couple of dies that I label for which bullet that one is for.

Might try loading up dummy rounds of each and keep them in the die box.

When you switch bullets, back off the seating stem.
Use the correct dummy round.
Screw the seating stem back down until it fits.
Lock it down.

Rcmodel as usual beat me to suggest making up dummy rounds with your various bullet types loaded to correct OAL. You can always take his information and suggestions to the bank.

rc nailed the answer.
you might consider makeing up a dummy with each slug you use.
useing a shot (bad) case would be ok.

I used to use rcmodels trick, but eventually bought a Redding Competition seater for .45 ACP to solve the problem. I use several different bullets and now I can just dial it in. I also bought one for .38 Spl and .357. I use the same one for both calibers. With the flat seater plug I made from an extra one Redding sent me, it will work with anything from a flush seated 148 Gr WC in .38 Spl to the longest load I use in .357. Barely, but it does. Again, just dial it in, check it, maybe tweak one or two thousandths, and load.

I bought a micrometer seater for a Hornady 9MM seater and it will work with 9MM and .38 Super. I had to mark the settings with a magic marker though. They are tough to see. The Redding is more money, but much nicer. They both work just fine, and you can move the Hornady micrometer top from seater to seater. Stretches your dollar well.

As you can see, I have not set the 9MM dies up on the LNL yet. Haven't needed to load any since upgrading from my old Projector.
