that some people in this country actually want to outlaw firearms!!!! Im 22 years old and I went to my first gun show with a friend about 1 month ago and I got hooked. He ended up buying a BHP and I instantly knew that I wanted a handgun as well. I ended up buying a fullsize H&K USP9 two weekends ago and have had a great experience so far. I just got back from my second trip to the range and my shooting has improved considerably after reading a lot of the threads on this forum. Shooting & and maintaining my handgun has now become my favorite hobby. I even enjoy cleaning it as it gives me a time to reflect on my shooting at the range and gets me familiar with the internals of the pistol.

I think those who want to outlaw guns are for the most part simply not familiar with them. They only hear about guns on CNN after a Columbine, a robbery gone south, or a 5 year old who killed herself playing with one. That coupled with TV shows and movies where guns are constantly killing people adds to the negative perception. In addition, many people in states such as New York and California are against guns simply because they have never had a chance to become familiar with one as the laws are so restrictive. They grow up feeling like guns are against the law and "bad".

I figure we need to start taking anti's to the range with us. Whether they be coworkers, spouses, or friends, we should get them familiar with safe firearm handling as many will instantly be hooked. Im starting by taking my mother and girlfriend once I get more experience and take a few classes. Last, aside from providing a good time, guns (with training) can save your life or the life of a loved one in danger. There is not a better feeling than knowing you can protect your loved ones when the SHTF.

Anyway, sorry for the long post! Glad to be here!

i agree

my brothers friend used to hate guns, said they are dirty killing devices, but ever since we took him to the range and safely introducer him to shooting he was hooked, and healready has a .22:D
