I have had my Security 6 about 1 year now. It came with the original wood grips, which I love but they were way too small. I don't have large hands, but the wood grips are very small for a 357, and after about 24 rounds, your hand starts to sweat making them not only small, but slippery. I have a Pachmyar grip on my Taurus 38 blue Titanium and love it. So I purchased a Pachmyar grip for the Security 6. It fit, but not perfect, and it felt nowhere near as perfect as it does on my Taurus. So, I broke down and purhased a Hogue grip. The installation required removing a pin, but was pretty straight forward. Overall, it's the best grip for the Security 6 that I have held.

Crazy Horse, do you find the Hogues to be as comfortable in recoil? I put on Pachmayrs for mine and agree they don't fit perfectly- they don't completely close together in front. It doesn't affect the shooting, but they do cover the backstrap, which for me was the main thing. Recoil makes me cry.

Col,

I took it to the range today. Funny thing, I took reloads that I thought I created using TG powder, but actually were reloaded with 2400. Don't know if you've used these powders before. Anyways, 2400 creates a significant light show. But the recoil. It was great. The Hogue grips are softer than the Pachmyar grips. Previously I had only fired 2400 reloads using my GP100. Which is much larger and heavier than the Security 6. It was the first time I had shot reloads with 2400 powder through the Security 6. I can honestly say both the firearm and the Hogue grips impressed me. The gun fired the bullets with no issues and the grips absorbed the recoil, to the point where in retrospect it felt the same as in the GP100 which is larger and heavier.

I have the Pachmayr Presentation Grip (size small) on my Service-Six. More purchase than the wood originals when shooting magnums, but not overly huge like some other products. I am not generally a fan of finger grip cutouts on revolvers.

The best grips ever made for the Security Six. Wood grip with rubber finger grip insert, but they were discontinued in 1981 and they are nowhere to be found anymore. Pachmayr did continue making them for other makes and models though.

Yeah, those are some nice grips. Love the wood around the rubber. I've seen similar style grips on the SP101. Wonder if Ruger had anything to do with them being discontinued.

I have those on my 2 3/4" Service 6. My 4" Security 6 has the Hogues like the OP has. Works for me.

Back when the Ruger Security Six was gaining popularity Ruger came out with some large grips for them that fit my hand perfectly. I put them on 3 Security Six's and really like them. The grips are out of production now but you can occasionally find them on Ebay.

I have a large set of what I suppose are target grips from a Security 6. They do not have an emblem of any sort but I suspect they are walnut. I will trade you mine for yours.
