Did Ruger make different grip frames for the Security Six? I bought a pair of Jay Scott grips on Ebay, they are marked "#62, Ruger Security Six" but they won't fit. They seem to be made for more of a square but style frame.

Two Different Grip Straps...

The old, or original style, which had a definate 'bend' in the back strap, and the newer style, with a smoother curve.

I don't have any pictures.

This question might go better in the Collecter's column. I bet Harley has more precise information.

***Go to GunBroker.com; search revolvers for 'Security'. There are photos of both early and later style grip frames.

Slick 6; thanks for filling in what I didn't remember. I was issued a Security Six in the Border Patrol some twenty-seven years ago... I should really get one.

The early Model Security-Six had a larger(More western-like)style of grip frame. The serial number prefix on these guns was #150. The later Security-Sixes had serial number prefixes of #151(And up!). The grips that you had obtained from Jay Scott were made for the earler #150 serial number prefix Security-sixes-and they will NOT fit the smaller grip frame of the later #151(And up!)Security Sixes! Everything said here also applies to the Service-Sixes(Because they have the same grip frame as the Security Six)! There were some very early(#151 series)Security & Service-Sixes, that still had the larger(#150)grip frame-in this transitional period going from the older(#150)grip frame, to the newer(#151)series grip frame!:cuss:

Hey, thanks for the replies.
Anyone need a pair of grips for an older gun? Make you a good deal on 'em!

If you put them in the classifieds or on the Ruger forum someone will buy them. People are always having the reverse problem, buying a <151- and not being able to find grips for them.

Some of the older Jay Scott grips were made to fit both the 150 prefix and the 151 pre fix and up guns. The easiest way to tell if they fit both is they have two grip pin holes. I bought a pair off e-bay awhile back for $10. They still see them on e-bay from time to time.
