Anyone on the forum have a Seecamp .380 ACP? I just found one on Gunbroker with a opening bid of $850.00 which makes it a very expensive carry auto. I have handled them in 32 ACP but never had the chance to fire one. They did appear to be very well made but that price seems out of line to me. I guess I will have to stick to my Sig 230 even though it it larger.

Hello Bill,

I own both a LWS32 and a LWS380. The Seecamp LWS380 retails for $795.00. It's worth every penny of it!

$850 is actually a pretty good [low] price. These little gems usually sell for no less than 1K and I've recently seen many of them sell for as high as $1500.00.

If you order one from a dealer or the Seecamp Factory, it'll take about 1 year before you take possession. Seecamp only produces about 4 per week and the waiting list gets bigger and bigger every week.

Every LWS380 is hand fitted and receives a final hand polishing before they leave the Seecamp Factory, which currently consists of only 7 employees, including Mr. Seecamp. Every LWS380 is test fired by Larry Seecamp and given a final inspection before it's beautiful solid Stainless Steel frame receives the final hand polishing.

The Seecamp LWS380 is the smallest DAO semi-automatic 380 manufactured in the World!

It is the Quintessential Personal Self-Defense Handgun in the World!

Yes, I'm a Proud Owner.

The P3 AT is a great weapon. Much larger than the LWS, but still very conceal friendly. Definitely a Pocket Carry Handgun.

Here's a good photo I put together illustrating size comparison between the two. The photo shows my LWS32 (identical in size to the LWS380) and a P3 AT which is being held by it's owner ( a Member on this Forum).

Glad you like that Seecamp! How is the recoil? I didn't realize it was that much smaller than the P3-AT. That is amazing in itself!

Felt recoil is very controllable. A bit snappier than the LWS32, but not painfull to shoot at all.

Chevy limits production in order to maintain an elitist status and high prices for the Vet. They don't want just anyone owning a Vet!

Chevy does that in order to maximize profit on the Corvette product line. Their decisions are made in order to increase share holder value not to limit who can have a vette.

Exactly! And who are the share holders of Seecamp?

Why I believe it's the Seecamp family!

It's the American way and I think that's fine, but I will give my money to NAA and KelTec who have made their products available to everyone.

The problem with your logic is that Larry Seecamp sold his product for what he thought was a fair price, even before the introduction of the NAAs & the Kel-Tecs, and he was making them as fast as he could.
The outrageous prices were being charged in the secondary market, by people that had ordered them a year or more earlier, knowing they could make a killing as soon as they took delivery. It was even pointed out to Larry that, based on his long wait time and the prices that were being charged in the secondary market, he had underpriced his product, and he should raise prices. He thought his pricing was appropriate, and refused. The reason prices came down after the introduction of the NAAs and the Kel-Tec isn't that Larry lowered his prices, it's because the demand dropped, and you could no longer charge $600+ on the secondary market for a Seecamp. He's still selling them for what he thinks is a fair price, and he's still making as many as he can.

The strong support here for the Secamps has made me do some research re-the Seecamp company, I believe I may have been too hard on them, but in my defense, my opinion was formed at a time when it was imposible to obtain the LWS32 AND I WANTED ONE!

....But I'm still bothered by the fact that Seecamp never made an effort to move to a mass production system so that his product would be available to everyone that wanted a very small and concealable pistol. It would have been a win, win siduation for everyone.

The Seecamp Family is not in business to produce the most,...they're in business to produce the Best.

Seecamp accomplished this a long time ago!

I've met the man and seen the factory and let me say that he would sooner scrap a small fortune of "acceptable" frames rather than produce 1 gun that is less than the best that he can make. The analogy he used was "if a doctor had a whole shelf of perfectly good pacemakers, and an improved pacemaker was introduced, he'd be honor bound to toss the old pacemakers rather than bet someones life on an inferior product" (I apologise for para-phrasing, but this was the gist). I then made him laugh by pointing out that he obviously doesn't know many doctors.:D The man spends easily 90% of his time in that factory, and when he's NOT there, he's working on getting his new factory up and running. He's dedicated to the memory of his parents, the company that he and his Father started and ran together until his father's death and to his "family" (i.e. his employees and, to a SLIGHTLY lesser extent, his customers). Larry Seecamp is a wonderful human being and the ONLY use he has for "profit" is to keep his employees paid and the factory open and producing THE BEST GUNS THAT HE CAN MAKE. Anyone accusing him of "being in it for the money" has obviously NEVER had ANY dealings with the man! That's my opinion and I stand by it.

I've met him, and visited his factory; that sounds like him. He isn't going to be interested in increasing production unless he can maintain quality- not an acceptable level of quality, but the same level of quality.

There is a reason that Seecamp pistols are in such high demand. There is a reason that Seecamp pistols often sell at a premium. There is a reason that used Seecamp pistols are difficult to find. There is a reason that used Seecamp pistols retain their value. There is a reason that Seecamp has such a loyal following.

Here it is: They make good guns. I know 'cause I own one.

They are a marvel of engineering, miniaturization and quality.

They are certainly not for everyone. But for those who appreciate their design and workmanship they are well worth the price. And after all, we spend so much more on ammunition... why not shoot the best!

I don't own one and probably never will but from what I have read he is doing what he wants and is making an high quality product. If you want one go for it but don't put him down for doing good.
The world needs more people with his ideas of what a product should be.

I need to stick my oar in on Seecamp pistols.
I have never owned or shot a LWS 380.
I have heard good thins about them from people I trust.

On the other hand I wanted a LWS 32 badly when the scalper price was $850. I wouldn’t pay the scalper price and the wait was three years. I sent them letter and was told they were not taking orders but would keep my name on file (they were converting the factory to CNC machines as I recall. I promptly forgot about the letter until a year later when I received a letter asking if I wanted to place an order, and noting that I could order a max of 5 EA. I picked up the phone and found three friends who were interested in about 15 minutes. I ordered 5 and took delivery about 18 months later (sold the fifth one the day they came in to another friend). That friend is now permanently in the hospital so I have his back.
This particular pistol was in his pocket when he was involved a motor cycle accident and the stocks were damaged. I sent an email to Seecamp and they replied, send an address that we can ship the replacements to, which they did at no charge. I have kept up with all five guns and owners. No one has had even the slightest trouble with one.

It's never too late to get one. I sincerely hope you get the opportunity to acquire a LWS32 or a LWS380 in the near future.

Then you'll see and feel first hand why it is that WE feel the way we do about Larry Seecamp,... and his product.

Good Luck and Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Just tell me how much a Seecamp .380 weighs. It is pretty much commom knowledge what a Kel-Tek P3AT weighs.

Just for the record...I do not own either, but would consider either if it were a really viable alternative to my every day pocket carry CCW...
