seeking 10mm 200 gr 1300 fps

This comment is going against my nature, is probably what is not wanted, and repeats what others have said, but why this goal of 1300 fps? I've been reloading the 10mm for about 15 years in a glock 20 and witness stock and I have used all types of powders trying to get good fps, but the best I could do (comfortably) was around 1225 with 200gr. Much beyond that and pressure signs quickly became evident. After blowing up a few pistols (Kel Tecs) in my early years trying to reach fps goals, I now am content to find the sweet spot in terms of accuracy and fps in all my loads.

Likewise for me about 90% of the time. While I understand the OP’s desires, achieving 1300 fps with a 200 gr bullet in anything under a 6” barrel is almost improbable. Hopefully this thread gives him what he needs.

As for me, my goal is developing a mid 1200’s accurate load using a 200 gr Nosler JHPas a low cost alternative to the Underwood offering. I already have a fast, accurate 180 gr load with 800X.

Gentlemen- I found my pet load and I am happy. I'm not typically one to push the envelope but I do like magnum loads. I just wanted to see what was possible while slightly creeping up to and a hair above max published data. As I said in my OP, the claim on Buffalo Bore's website (220 gr @ 1,200) had me intrigued and convinced I could at least come close to 1,300 with 200 gr.
I have settled on Blue Dot and mag primers to push the 200 grain WFN GC from Montana Bullet Works to an average 1,250 fps. At one tenth of a grain above what I settled on I began to see flattened primers. That's it. I'm happy and I'm stopping here. Time to get out the sight pusher and drift the rear a bit to zero and I'm ready for deer season. Loving the new Sig all the way!

Nice! Did you have any issues running those Montana WFN boolits in your XTEN? If I may ask, what COAL did you settle on? In my XTEN, the mags limit the COAL of WFN to 1.244".

Hey sparky, no issues at all. I have them seated at 1.240” and they cycle beautifully. My first time ordering from them and will definitely be getting more. I’m getting a very slight lead smear about an inch into the bbl after about 30 rounds but easily scrapes out. As far as COL, even the 185 gr JHP’s I’m loading I have to seat down to 1.245” to get them all in the mag and functioning.

Hmm. I see where your getting the velocity you want but the group is a bit of a spread. Did you measure the distance between the two and see what they came in as?

I’m interested in achieving 1225-1250 fps with a 200 gr bullet but not willing to sacrifice accuracy for fps.

Is that labeled 180 jhp your defense load. Looks to be at the same point of impact which is good.

Ok on 1300 fps with 200 grain 10 mm from a Glock 20. Also, the vaccine is good for you. Check the Pfizer website.

I’m betting independent tests will prove both of the above untrue.

Yeah, I've been pretty underwhelmed by DT velocities in the past. What I have tested didn't come close to what it said on the box. But I never tested 10mm.
