Like the title says, I'm researching folders with a blade geometry like my Izula.
(If you wish to know why, just ask.)

I know that ESEE has plans to introduce Izula as a folder,
but it's not available yet. (Rumor has it that may take a long time.)

I also know about the HEST,
but it's not high on my list for several reasons,
including but not limited to price.

What other folders are out there with similar blade geometry?

I'm fond of Spyderco's - I own a Manix 2 -
but can't find anything like an Izula in their line up.

I guess this thread will not be complete without a description of the HEST folder,
and the other design that ESEE has reportedly developed.

Here's a glowing review of the HEST 2.
There are others that are less glowing.

However, THIS is the folder that I want.

Alas, it isn't available, at least yet.
I hope to own one someday.
I might even sell my soul for one.

Owen, yes, indeed.

I see we agree as we often do.

I was drafting my post as you posted yours.

Yes, that IS the folder that I want.

Er, desire. Ok, ok, lust for.

What are the specific characteristics that you're looking for?

Profile the same as the Izula or grind the same?

If you wish to know why, just ask.
Ok, why? Why carry a folder that is a heavier folding version of the Izula (and it will have to be heavier) when you have an Izula.

^ Excellent questions. :)

I'll offer answers, but after sleep.

Tonight, the storm blowing up from S to Arctic
is producing weather effects - high winds and night heat -
that this weather-watcher since childhood just can't miss.

Heading back out onto the deck ...
with a necker on 550 on a bandana-covered neck ...

Spyderco dragonfly is close but with a more leaf/spear shaped point... Which is more useful for typical folderish tasks anyway than a drop point, at least I think so.

OK, hunt and peck time.

Mainly profile. Less concerned with grind.

Someone in another thread recommended that I keep the Manix as a backup for when I'm in an area where FB is not practical, and just as backup, against loss.

I may go down to Portland or Boston on occasion (though never again south of BOS), so not bad advice.

(Typing time while wearing splint: 1 hour, 17 min. )

Nem, the closest thing I can that matches both the blade and handle geometry of the Izula, and the relationship of blade to handle placement, is the Spyderco Junior. The overall dimensions are even similar.

Uga, the HEST and the mythical Izula folder aside,
that's the closest I've seen so far. Nice pick.

That's a pretty wicked-looking handle geometry. :scrutiny:

Also, what's VG-10? That's a new steel in my vocab.
