I added this info to my introduction thread and as soon as I hit send, I realized it would be better to post it seperately.

I have a small project going for the men and women who are currently deployed. I call it "Mama's Cookie Brigade". My children and I bake cookies and brownies and ship them to service men and women overseas. It's not much, but it is a taste of home.

If anyone is interested in joining...or if you have a name and address of a friend or family member who is deployed...please PM me or reply to this thread.

TIA

PS: This is not a political statement in any form. I know this isn't totally firearm related; however, they do shoot some pretty big guns over there from what I've heard... :)

I have 7 guys I supervise over in the sandbox as we speak. 4 in Iraq and 3 in the Stan. Will PM you the address's in the morning.

Thanks to you and your family. We appreciate what your doing for us. Its nice to get packages like that when your over there. Means the world to us. Lets us know people back home care.

If you need any help or donations let me know. We are building Holiday boxes for them as we speak.

Thanks...will get baking on it as soon as I get the addresses! BTW, if there is a particular need for other items, please let me know as well.

I still remember when I was in 3rd grade our class made cookies for the soldiers fighting during Desert Storm. It was a great feeling and we even made it to the 10 o'clock news

Thank you, Black Majik. It's not very much...but it's something I can do. Shoot, after having 6 kids, I'd better know how to bake cookies, huh? ;)

The hardest part about what I'm doing was keeping my youngest two out of the cookies. After the first several batches of what we call 'soldier cookies'...it was just too much for them and I had to make an extra batch just for the small ones.

The second hardest part about it is not eating the cookies myself...lol!

My son (in whom I am well pleased)...

is on USS KittyHawk. I served during the SE Asia period. I can safely say you are appreciated.

I don't bake, do you take contributions?

To keep this gun related, does anyone else realize that semi-automatic and fully automatic weapons work and shoot better when there are chocolate chip cookies in the area? Proven fact.

Mama06, I made the first trip to the Gulf and I can PROMISE you that what you are doing is absolutely and completely appreciated by EVERYONE involved. Patriots like you and your helpers make the hard lives of patriots abroad easier, helping them to remember who and what they fight for every day. God bless you sister.

Archie: My oldest son is also in the service (USAF) and he was deployed to Qatar last week. Does it keeop it 'gun related' to say that he's in'Ammo'? :) As for wanting to contribute, if you eould like, 'shoot' me a PM...gun related, again... ;)

Thanks to all who relpied.

Mary
