Ok,

So I was reading 'bout all the seizures going on over on FALFILE and got to thinking. I think something big is brewing.

I think the seizures serve some other bigger purpose. Perhaps, it is list building time. Perhaps, they know a biger ban is in the works and feel the need to get all the parts off the street before next year.

I don't think the House can stop it. We have already heard Bush say he is for the ban. I think he will sign an executive order to put a permanent ban in place or the House will, for some reason, be forced to sign a new ban.

I don't think it is "just happening." Something is in the works.....

We are screwed big time!

Just call me paranoid...............

It's not paranoia if they actually ARE out to get you.:uhoh:

That being said (before the conspiracy theories run rampant) the simplest answer is normally the right one.:scrutiny:

I think that your reading a bit too much into this. ATF&E was absorbed in the Justice Dept. 1.) They are seen as a bunch of uncouth cowboy trouble makers, i.e. NOT FBI grade material. 2.) The FBI and other Justice divisions would rather absorb their responsabilities and do away with them. Much of what you see is a way to justifiy their existance. Just my two cents

Zak-

Go to The FAL Files and do a search on Interordnance seizures. It seems that some FAL parts kits were imported and then not properly de-mil'ed. ATF-E got wind of it and raided IO, confiscating the kits. The unholy B!#@? of it is that they then went after the kits that have already been sold, confiscating them as well even if the receiver parts had been destroyed. More than that I'm not sure; you can read about it over there.

Chilean army machine gun kits seized in Seattle suburb

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

SEATTLE -- Nearly 8,000 Chilean army machine gun kits were seized from a suburban arms and ammunition importer in a recent raid, documents filed in U.S. District Court revealed.

According to a search warrant, P.W. Arms of Redmond imported 16,000 disassembled assault rifles, each with a 20-round magazine and a bayonet, for $84 apiece from an unnamed Chilean exporter who brokered the sale of Chilean army weaponry.

It was not immediately clear what happened to the other 8,000 kits, which were advertised in gun trade magazines for $250 each. A spokesman with the local office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms on Friday refused to comment to The Associated Press about the seizure on Tuesday.

The warrant says P.W. Arms president Stacy Prineas attempted to sell thousands of the kits to firearms retailers. A message left by the AP at a phone number listed to Prineas was not immediately returned Friday.

The Brazilian-made FN-FAL weapons could be imported legally if they were modified to permanently prevent the firing of more than one round with a pull of the trigger, according to the court papers. The rifles then could be rebuilt as legal semiautomatics, with a pull of the trigger required to fire each round.

According to the warrant, the exporter was instructed by P.W. Arms or someone at the business not to tamper with parts of the mechanism that enable the rifles to be used as fully automatic - and illegal - machine guns.

ATF agents learned of the assault rifles in a search in December 2001 at Inter Ordnance of America LP, a gun importing business in Monroe, N.C., that had purchased 8,000 rifles from the same Chilean dealer, The Seattle Times reported.

Last month, according to court documents, ATF was told by a P.W. Arms official about the guns in Redmond.

My husband got "the letter" from the BATFE a little over two weeks ago, informing him that he was in possession of a machine gun - the parts kit he bought from IO a couple of years ago. They wanted it. They took the receiver parts, but not the entire kit.

Gotta wonder what is next.
