I have a Ruger Single Six with both cylinders. I don't shoot anything
but .22 mags anymore. They are a lot of fun and much more potent
than the .22 LR.

now that's a pretty revolver, walkalong,
Thanks. It came with the rear sight as well. Since it had been converted, I got a great deal on it. It is a lot of fun.

Simple 22 mag = FUN. IMO a very fun round and has been forgotten by many. Loved it when I was a kid and still love today.

I really get tired of people saying the 22lr is so much cheaper to shoot,it is, but they don't understand the FUN factor. Sometime it's not about the money but the enjoyment of a round. I don't mind paying a little more to get some time in with an old friend.

"FUN" for me comes in .44Mag size packages.... :D

I know it's different if you're hunting where you may want/need the extra power of the .22Mag. But for the cost, which is around the same as buying .9mm or .38Spl, I'd rather pass on the .22Mag in favour of buying or reloading more center fire fun. Hell, for that matter I can reload TWO .44Mag rounds for the cost of buying ONE .22Mag rimfire round. Up here the stuff costs around $15/50. Which, come to think of it, means that it's about $2 MORE than buying a box of 9mm and the same as .38Spl at the moment up here.

So I find that my .22's serve me best by shooting the cheap .22LR. I still very much enjoy them though. They are superb practice guns for reinforcing proper technique and just great cheap fun in their own right.

My SS has had the mag cylinder in it more than the lr cylinder it's a bit more money but a lot more fun. I dont see a great deal of difference accuracy wise but the 9.5'' bbl may help a bit. I've had this gun since 1979 and it has never let me down it is truely a fine pistol. I liked the SS so much that I bought a SBH in .44mag with a 10.5'' bbl it's kinda like having a rifle on your hip with either of these guns.
Definately give the .22mag cylinder a try you will likely fall in love with it.

I own 4 different brands of .22 revolvers with combo cylinders, all are reasonably accurate. I also have 2 .22 mag pistols they are also a ton of fun. True they are a bit more costly to shoot but the increase in performance is well worth the expense IMHO. The best feature is 38 SPL results with no real recoil in a .22 MAG firearm.:D

Take a 4x4 post and shoot it with 22lr, then us 22mag fmj, tell me which one you like better. 22mag has better bullets and more velocity. 22lr is cheap to shoot. My single six is one of my favorites.
