I recently inherited my father's shotguns, and after a long hiatus, have thoroughly enjoyed my return to shooting trap, skeet, and clays.

Of the guns I have inherited, a Beretta 682 is by far my favorite. I use it for trap and Annie Oakley. Fit, ergonomics, aesthetics... it is as close to perfect as I can get without having a gun custom fit for me. I'm confident with it, and it shows.

My father was an avid and accomplished skeet shooter. His Krieghoff K80 four barrel set was his pride and joy. While it isn't necessarily a bad fit for me, it isn't a good fit either. In my hands, it feels notably dissimilar to the Baretta that I like so much. That is reflected in my confidence and my scores... which brings me to my quandary.

I could have the Kriehoff altered to fit me, but that would mean some serious and irreversible work. I'm afraid that even after that is done, I will still be searching for a "better fit". I don't know enough about this to be dangerous, so I would appreciate any guidance the hive can provide.

If I do decide to sell the K80, are there some guns with four barrel sets that are similar to the 682?

As always - THANK YOU for your input and suggestions.

That just looks like a blood blister waiting to happen. Lol

Never seen it happen, and the guys I know that have one love theirs. I tried a Trap round out of a friend's, and it made my Gra-Coils and Rucker Auto-Buster pale in comparison.

If your like me when it comes to selling guns from my father, it never happens. I like the armored farmers advice. Get it to fit and enjoy it.

You could be fitted, and have Krieghoff make wood for you, keeping the original for if /when you sell.

Or kill two birds with one stone, stock fit for you and recoil reducer, and get a Stock Lock made for it:

I'm with @entropy. Get another piece of wood, either new or used and have that altered to fit you. Keep the take off parts of the gun to put back should you ever decide to sell.

My wife of 45 yrs. has a Zane Grey Marlin .30-30. Stock fit for a scope for her was a no-go, way low. I altered a used Marlin 336 butt stock to fit her. The original butt stock reisdes in the safe. May look a bit odd but she shoots it very well.
This is after getting sighted at 100 yds. from the bench. I tell her " not bad for a Girl "...

That's funny! My Father-In-Law gave me his Marlin 336 in 30-30. My buddy (who is retired LE) and my wife both shot it at a couples range session.... she shot much better groups than he did!
