So, they've cut hours and work, the other resident is still out of a job, and I need rent money. Looks like I'm going to have to sell my converted Saiga. :(

Where am I likely to get the best price with the least hassle right now? Might as well take advantage of this bubble for a couple month's rent.

It's converted, but there's a worn patch on the side and the front sight block is moved forward instead of replaced completely, because I couldn't find an appropriate one. I don't want to sell it without making that clear because I don't want to have to take it back, but I'm going to need to manage it soon.

I'll take pictures before selling it, anyway. I'll even include a couple mags, but it's tough finding a current price. Gunbroker is... confusing, to be polite.
I'll also see what the local shop will charge me to ship it if I need to, because that will be a lot easier and I'm stuck on my bike until I can replace a timing belt in the car. The UPS center is far outside of bicycling range.
It's a 7.62x39. I wanted the traditional caliber.

rifles/shotguns can be mailed via us mail. box it, insure it, have tracking. if you sell on gun broker, you can sell as individual--provided buyers ffl holder will accept shipment-include a copy of lic. in shipment along with your receipt to buyer-will save you local fees.

only concern--legality of weapon in destination state--but accepting dealer is ultimately responsible.

Well, I guess I can just print out their page on the matter. I was just hoping to avoid it if I could, because I haven't met a shipper around here that deals well with that.

Gunbroker is still showing some really outrageous prices, I'd with a high entering bid there, and if you get no bites there, try classifieds. I know of a few other online auction sites but they for the most part have calmed down to the point where you can probably get more money elsewhere.

Armslist has helped me turn some un-needed items REALLY fast !
No auction to wait for,no fees or upcharges

Sell it one G broker to get the most for it. I've sold a couple things there recently and started the price at or below fair market and let it go where ever from there.

GunBroker for sure. I had a rifle listed on THR for months without much interest but sold it TWICE on GunBroker very easily. You'll have a lot more views on GunBroker compared to THR. I did sell an action and stock through THR but it took a while. I plan on putting more items on GunBroker including a Marlin lever action and a Krieger barrel.

I've sold several rifles and handguns using gunbroker. Never had problems using them.

For shipping, call local pawn shops. Many of them have FFLs so they can pawn guns and are happy to make $10 or so to ship a gun.

You don't need to pay an FFL to ship a firearm. I've shipped numerous rifles to FFLs. Most simply require a copy of your driver's license in the box.

Totally agree that you're not required to have a FFL ship for you.

But...

Many receiving FFLs only accept firearms from other FFLs and its actually cheaper for me to take a pistol down to my local pawn shop and pay them to mail it USPS Priority Mail with insurance than it would be for me to ship it myself using FedEx or UPS overnight.

The OP is selling a Saiga which he/she can legally ship via USPS to an FFL. I've shipped six rifles this year via USPS to three different FFLs. All three requested a copy of my driver's license but that's all they required. Obviously it's best to check with the FFL first, but I've yet to find one that wouldn't accept a rifle/shotgun from me.

In favor of GB:
+Your Saiga is a semi-automatic defense firearm. Selling through Gunbroker reduces the chances of it ending up in the wrong hands.
+You will typically sell it better, because the customer base is infinitely larger than any gun show or classifieds
+You may save considerable amount of time by not floating at the gunshow for hours like a turd in a pool, wielding your weapon and watching people dryfire it pointing straight ahead. You can do better things while the internet auction takes care of itself.

In favor of Gun Show:
+You will sell and get your money sooner, in cash, no commission, no FFL fees
+Listing your item may be a chore if you haven't done many
+Shipping a long gun is a hassle of variable magnitude (slightly better when disassembled)

Stay safe.

Well, I think I can afford the time for an auction. I'll probably go that route.
Asked the LGS about shipping because I haven't heard anything good about the nearby PO's around as far as that goes, and the price he quoted me was little more than the shipping materials would cost me, so I'm just going to be lazy there. I do know some of my local shops hate accepting shipments from non-dealers anyway, so this might save me some headache.

Way to go. Be sure you are clear on the outgoing FFLs shipping
quote. It may or may not include packaging.

Did you try posting it on local FL forums like FloridaGunTrader? I've bought and sold many guns there, mostly in less than a week. Hard to find rifles are usually sought out, and if you price it right, you can sell within a couple of days. I sold my Spikes Tactical AR15 in about 3days locally.
