I emailed my senator to let him know that I will remember him at the next election.
My guess is that the Dems will insert a poison pill into the bill at the last minute, so that it loses all GOP support. That way the Dems can blame the GOP again for not supporting so called “common sense” gun laws. Otherwise, are too few issues for the Dems to run their campaign on this year, especially with the economy in the toilet.
No such thing, if they change, they aren't the same, but you habitually post support for giving up something to save something, which is baloney, all it is is giving in, they simply ask for more the next time, you know, the thing(s) that you think you saved.Exactly. Smart conservatives know that "things must change so that things can stay the same."
Along these lines, what do 2A supporters ever gain in the area of gun rights? I'm genuinely asking because I don't know...there may be something, right? To me, it always (and I don't use that word lightly) seems like they shoot for the stars and we "compromise" down to the moon, but we rarely (if ever) actually gain anything. It's just "less bad".No such thing, if they change, they aren't the same, but you habitually post support for giving up something to save something, which is baloney, all it is is giving in, they simply ask for more the next time, you know, the thing(s) that you think you saved.
1. It has NOT passed the Senate. It is still just an agreement from a 20 Senator bipartisan committee. The article does report that it has a good chance of passing the Senate.
2. It has NOT passed the House. What passed the House is a completely different bill.
3. Biden has pledged to sign it if it makes it to his desk.
Disagree.
A list of Republican senators who outwitted the Democrats and secured political cover for Republicans going into the Midterms.
The proposed legislation is nothing but political theater.

Only thing in the Hill article was including DV TRO in NICS
Domestic ViolenceCare to translate?
What in the world is DV TRO?
Just as I predicted, a list of the traitors in the senate:
Enjoy the new gun laws. Maybe do something more than vote, and finance endless summers for the NRA, next time.
- John Cornyn of Texas
- Thom Tillis of North Carolina
- Susan Collins of Maine
- Bill Cassidy of Louisiana
- Lindsey Graham of South Carolina
- Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania
- Roy Blunt of Missouri
- Richard Burr of North Carolina
- Rob Portman of Ohio
- Mitt Romney of Utah
What in the world is DV TRO?
By their own admission it's "chip away" at gun rights and we all know the ultimate goal. The red flag part troubles me the most from what little I know so far. Politics in motion and both sides can say they did "something" even if it's wrong. What Schumer means is "It's a good NEXT step". The 'first' step was in 1934.
How about slipping in "some weirdo stuff" like repeal of the Hughes Amendment? Any one of those 10 Republican senators has enormous negotiating power right now. Why aren't we pushing for a pro-gun addition, rather than blindly opposing everything? This is why the pro-gun side never gets anything, and is always forced into concessions -- it's called failure of imagination. And expect some weirdo stuff stuffed into it also,
I feel your pain, we've got Chris Murphy & Blumenthal here (Ct) and plan on moving before long.I might as well stand outside and---well, spit into the wind as when it comes to contacting my senator. My vote means nothing to him as he knows the northern part of the state will vote for him. This is NM and he checks both boxes that get you elected in this state.
