The next Steel City Tactical Rifle Match will be September 29th. We'll have 7 blastin' stages with hopefully some cooler weather than we had in June!
Registration will begin at 8:00, shooters meeting at 8:30 and the first shot fired will be at 9:00am. Match fee is $20.00.
Those who have shot with us before will know what to expect. Those who haven't, check out the Steel City website for additional info. www.scssa.org
The match is definitely not an equipment race. All you really need is a semi-auto, box magazine fed rifle, 3ea 20-30round magazines and the means to carry them. You'll be able to shoot any stage with one 20round mag, but I'd plan on shooting some additional! 125 to 150 rounds of ammo should be plenty to get you through the match. Longest shot will be 150yds or so (10" flash targets). Be sure your rifle has a sling and bring an open bolt indicator. Open bolt indicators will be available for a nominal cost at the range in case you forget.
We'll recognize the same 4 classes with plaque trophies as in June, Tactical Optics, Tactical Irons, Heavy Metal Optics, Heavy Metal irons.
Feedback on the first two matches in March and June was very positive. We'll continue to tweak the match based on suggestions from the shooters to increase the fun factor.
We should have the stages set up by mid day on Friday 9/28. If you want to come out to the range on Friday afternoon to shoot at the steel on the long range stage, please feel free.
Please e-mail or pm me with any questions.
