Serbu super shorty

HDG - you need to get yourself a Remington SRD:

I can't seem to locate a civilian sales dealer for them, so if you find one - please let me know.

This would be the perfect mounting device for your boat - and is what I am seeking for my truck.

Thinking more about this thread and the Serbu itself - does the Serbu accommodate 3" high brass/magnum loads in the 2+1 setup? I am just wondering what it is like to shoot magnum loads with such a short barrel. I bet that is cool looking at night/dusk.

The 11.5" barrel on the 870 is hard hitting with high brass, yet my 120lb daughter can handle the SBS with 2 3/4" low brass field loads (#7 buckshot) with ease.

I was somewhat concerned about someone getting wild and maybe allowing their grip to slip out past the pump grip and shooting their fingers/hand off - which is why I presume the Serbu has a fold down foregrip? I see some guys with hooks/guards on the end of their SBS fore grips to prevent this.

Does anyone know if there are aftermarket mag tubes for mossbergs that are shorter, i would like to make an SBS and i would rather buy a mag tube than have to modify the existing one.

AK, keep in mind that if you shorten the mag tube (shorter than factory/stock), you gotta move the barrel guide ring back and mod the action bars. These are not simple mods which is why I opted to keep the stock mag tube configuration.

As cut, it is exactly 11 1/2"

I am certainly not trying to discourage you, so please keep those ideas flowing, as that is what makes it fun.

Take your barrel and put some masking tape where you will (possibly) cut and see how it looks. I put mine on the floor and covered the barrel, then took a digital pic to get the initial look. I then used the poor mans PhotoShop (MS Paint) to further refine. Once I had my "look" figured out, I did the Form 1 and the rest kinda fell into place. Waiting on the paperwork to come back was the hardest part.

If I may... I'd like to state for the record that the Serbu is what prompted me to build mine. I liked it A LOT (looks, intent) and think they definitely have a loyal following. In the same context, I am grateful to those that gave me advice during my own build. I avoided mistakes and money was (for once) not spent foolishly.
