I'm 30. Not young, not yet old, but a grown up nonetheless. I've got more guns than I know what to do with. I sold a bunch in 2013 and made a tidy profit, so when I come across great deals I snatch them up in prep for the next run on guns we seem to have every four to six years.
But it's time to pick some guns to settle on becoming great with shooting. So my priorities are: purpose, affordability, durability, and BUG OUT optimal.
To that end I've settled on the Glock 22 platform for semi-auto HD. I own three of them. When I get the fourth (they go cheap at gun shows because no one wants them), I'll start converting two of them to .22lr and 9mm (I've got six G17 mags just sitting here doing nothing).
Security Six 6" .357 Revolver for HD (got a second one at $240 in stainless steel).
Ruger SP101 2.25" for concealed carry. But it'll switch off with the Springfield XDS in .45 ACP that I carry as well. The Bersa 9mm Ultra Compact will be getting retired to Truck gun stash (I had a stash box installed under the driver's seat, it's a compartment that closes and needs a small tumbler code to open). The Kel-Tec P3AT I got will be carried till it breaks down, sent back to the factory if they'll repair it and thrown in the back of the safe.
I do want another 10mm (got a Glock 20) but it'll be more for fun than anything. I keep trying to get excited about 1911s but this south paw just can't get excited about them anymore (sacrilege!!!).
My GP100 will essentially become my fiancee's when we get married, I already know that, along with my Sig 228, and my Spartan 1911. If my dad ever gives me back my Glock 23 (he hasn't taken it shooting in a year now even though I invite him to the range) I'll probably take it as a concealed carry gun again. But the rest of the handgun stash is now just resales in waiting for the next run on guns as far as I see it. With the exception of my Glock 20 and cap-and-ball pistols of course I'm prepared to say goodbye to my Redhawks, Blackhawks, and even my Model 19s (well except for the 19-3 4" beater, that sucker stays as my bedroom stash gun) when the next run happens and the prices are bizarrely high.
Oh I've got a bunch of guns set aside that have no paper on them so to speak, but those are set aside for long term investment.
