Okay, I have to admit that I have never been a fan of the looks of a J frame. I own several and find them to be excellent guns (my primary is an M&P 360), but they don't evoke any special emotion when looking at them.

Today I casually walked into a local shop and when I saw this particular J frame all of that changed. So I decided to take this lady and her sharp tongued friend home with me...

Thanks!

Found it at Dick's Gun Room in Cuyahoga Falls.

This one has about 20-30 rounds through it so it was used, they do have a new one left but it was about $120 more. Side by side you couldn't tell them apart so I bought the used one.

If you've never been there it's a nice shop, lot's of variety and it's old school (stuff crammed everywhere and NIB accessories that have not been made in 20 years).

Very nice! Here's mine - sorry it's upside down, and put your hand on your monitor to hide the fugly Glock...

I'm anxiously awaiting the model 60 Pro to be approved for California. I think it looks amazing.

Unfortunately I have not been able to get out and shoot yet, probably be this weekend.

Colt1903, thanks for showing the targets, I figured this guy should be pretty accurate a J frames go.

You know, S&W really ought to make an M&P 340 with a 3" barrel and tweak the appearance a hair....

colt1903, I see that you have the stock wood grips on your Model 60 Pro in the upper photo, and what looks like Hogue rubber grips in the bottom photo. Is there a story behind that, how were the wood grips for you?

cpirtle, and colt1903 for that matter, how about a couple of range reports?

JFH,

I second your motion for a 3 inche model 340.

Owlnmole,

As J frame said you can see the whole range review (you can decide if it is sordid):D at http://averagejoeshandgunreviews.blogspot.com/. Scroll down to May 3rd's posting. As for the grips, These are perhaps the largest grips Smith & Wesson has ever put on a J frame revolver, but alas, they are still too small for my meaty paws. With each shot of magnum ammo it was necessary to reposition my hand as the revolver has moved during recoil. This led me to replace them, as beautiful as they are, with a set of Hogue Rubber Monogrips. The Monogrips are no larger but between the palm swells, finger groves and rubber it stay in position when magnum loads are fired.

Oh, *hello Pro-60.*

Thanks a lot, cpirtle and colt1903. Now I've got something else on my "must get" list.

(Great pictures, guys. Well done.)
