QBG,

Fred's AQT is a 11x17 paper. I don't think it is an issue. We need a target holder, though.

I also have a set, somewhere. I'll bring it along.

-Pat

pbhome71- oh I'm familiar with Fred's targets; I was just answering Atek3's question on whether or not it was ok to use a steel target plate on the 100 yd. tin can range.

Sorry, my bad....

What's the rule for the 100yds tin can range? Can we put target anywhere, or does it have to be at 100 yds line only?

-Pat

pbhome71- Well there's the 100 yd tin can range, which can be fun, but let's be honest- we like seeing stuff blow up! So the 40 yd. tin can range is where it's at. Plus they allow rapid fire (.22 RF ONLY ) on the 40 yd. tin can range. Ok so it's not much of a challenge at 40 yds. but hitting a plastic water jug with a .22-250 Ballistic tip is a hoot to see.

Plus Sven has this trick where he squirts some concentrated tempra water based paint in the water jugs, for much Technicolor 'Splosion Goodness!

edit- I totally blew off your original question, sorry! Yes, on the 100 yd, tin can range, the targets must be at the 100 yd mark.

sks

I bought a yugo sks. Anybody going on the third, know how to break it down, etc? this aint no m-4, but it looks like a good plinker. thanks Stevo.

Got yer back on that Sgt Steveo- I'll see if I can dig up a copy of one of the old SKS manuals I have laying around for you. Did you get stripper clips?

I was thinking about put different target at different distance. But you are right, 40 yards is much easy to see bottles exploded.

I'll bring my SKS, Mosin, USP 40 (per CW request), 10/22, CZ 452, and may be M1A. I also can bring Chrony, if anyone want to play with it (please dont shoot my skyscreen.... :)

-Pat

my what?

I dont have stripper clips. I had to look up what they were. I know nothing about this gun. But, I will bring a p-99, sig 226, 245, high power, luger clone, glock 34, etc. them I can figure out with my little brain. thanks gunner, you da man..

Sgt Steveo- I can set you up with a starter set of stripper clips; be a shame if the Mutant Ninja Zombie Robo-Bearsâ„¢ attacked and you weren't set up to defend your perimeter properly!:D

For those new to rifles, both the Scout M1 Carbine or the Kel-Tec SU16s are going to be fun on the 40 yard tin can lane...

mutant??

gunner, were can get a mutant zombie bear? that might just solve my home defense problem. thanks I will kick down some ammo to ya on the range. And Steveo will probly become my new nick n ame. OK I guess. I get called worse. Check out the the dressing down I got in the pepper spray debate by some Air farce clown......

Wow. Sgt Stevo- in my mind I kept adding a second 'e' after the 'v'. Just noticed that. My apologies. I have a good friend named Steve and I often call him 'Steve-o'.

aw shucks... now I'm all embarrassed and stuff…

man... can't believe I did that...

"talbalos- I think we have a winner.

Ted? Is that you from calguns.net?"

[Bugs Bunny]"Mmmmm. Could be"[/Bugs Bunny]

I may be able to make it that Saturday. If I do, I'll bring my CA neutered FAL, an M1A Scout and ....

Did you say a chrono? Oooh...I have this straight-pull carbine and this 1938-vintage Nazi-surplus 8 x 56R stuff that a bunch of people would love to find out about.

I think that also means I have to bring all three of the S.A.S.S barrels. I've been itching to find out what the .358 Winchester REALLY does out of a 15" barrel. And the .308, too.

But what I HAVE to find out is if the .243 Winchester barrel lives up to the reason I bought it in the first place. It's supposed to be my 3000-foot/second handgun...

There's The Monster, also, but there's the question of where it actually shoots, and I don't want to drill the machine. Hmmm.

Worst to worst, Pat, I'll let you shoot 'em. You just have to make sure the chrono's far enough out that the muzzle-blast won't knock it flying. (That is, of course, presuming I can con you into actually dropping the hammer on a three-pound gun chambered in a 9mm rifle round. )

Note to self: gloves.

NOTE TO EVERYONE: SUNSCREEN!!!

It looks like a go for me..

My wife said that I can go next week, unless there is something urgent coming up. She said that she might even come with me.

I think I'll bringing a couple of things.
- Mosin 91/59
- CZ 452
- Ruger 10/22
- USP 40 - for CW to try
- Browning Buckmark
- Erma baby Luger
- Mauser C96 in 9mm Luger
- oh, and Chrony for H.R.G. to try.
- and may be a K-31.
I hope to be there around 9:00am. See you there.

-Pat

Folks, look for the "Molon Labe" hats and name badges and don't be afraid to introduce yourself.... I think I saw some 'lurkers' last time who didn't introduce themselves... bad form!

;)

I mentioned this to my wife and she didn't bring up any pressing engagements..so I think it is a go. Is there any structure to these get togethers? Do you do handguns in the morning and long guns in the afternoon, or is it whatever..whenever?

I saw some SKS's above. I can bring an SKS and some corrosive ammo on strippers. I think that the SKS is lots of fun to shoot. I have just as much fun shooting the SKS as an AR. Are folks going to shoot any trap?

Unfortunately that Saturday is one of the few days that I will not be able to be there as I will be celebrating my daughters 4th birthday. Priorities don't cha know. You can't beat the fun of shooting at the tin can range. Hey Sven can ya take some video to be viewed later by those of us who can't make it? Have fun.

Hmmm, it's not looking great for me. It's still a possibility I could convince my dad to bring me, but I might not be able to go. Let's just say it involves powdered magnesium and a smoke cloud over the... nevermind.

Oh man, in 4th grade my buddy and I... uh... borrowed some magnesium ribbon from our friendly open school science lab... never got caught on what resulted, but I DID get caught lighting a can of bug spray.... was carried home by my ear.

If it doesn't work out, just let me know any weekend day and I'll meet you and your dad at my local range, Sunnyvale Rod & Gun.

Magnesium? You two have got nuthin'. In high school, we mixed our own thermite in chem lab. :D

Hope you can make it, C-W. I'll try to be there at opening. I'll bring some hamburgers and, if I remember, buns for the BBQ.
