I have the most difficult time centering sights.

I bought some Mepro's for my P2000 and I'm having difficulty centering the sights. According to my bore laser, the sights are on but they look quite funky. The rear sight is centered on the slide quite well but the only way to get the laser on target is when the front sight is pushed quite far to the right.

POI at 25-30 when both sights are centered according to the best effort my eyes give me is still almost 4" to the right.

Any tips or tricks that you guys use?

How about measurement calipers? Which do you guys use?

Why can't everyone make sights easy to deal with like Glock?:D

Center the sights on the slide visually. Shoot on paper from a rest and correct from there. The laser may or may not be giving you an accurate representation of POA/POI. Shooting the gun will.

To correct use sight radius divided by distance to target in inches times number of inches to correct. You may correct both front and rear to minimize the distance off center of both.

Well, I shot the guns today and they are definitely off. I centered the sights as best as I could.

P2K: 50 ft. 3-4 inches to the right.
USPc: 25 ft. 3 inches to the left.

It's such a pain to adjust sights when both of them move.:banghead:

Four inches at 50 feet? Assume 5 inch sight radius, divide by 600=.0083 x 4 inches=.033 movement or about 3.3 hundredths of an inch. Not much and not hard.
Front and rear could each take half of the total adjustment for only .0166 inch of movement on each sight.
For measurement the calipers may be used on a flat held parallel to the slide flat and the edge of the sight. We are looking for the calculated distance of movement, so check distance prior to movement and then add needed movement to get desired number.

Jungle,

Thanks for the help. What kind of calipers do you suggest?

It really made me feel crappy today because the gun was so off.:(

Anything that is fairly accurate will work. In real terms the group size will preclude almost anything but measure with a micrometer and cut with an axe. The numbers you want to use are easy to generate, but it is slightly more difficult to get the sight to move that exact amount unless you are using a sight pusher.
Be aware that POI can vary with ammo, lighting, grip, stance, and more than a few other things.
It's easy to move the sights to the correct area, and that can make a big difference.
