Among my modest knife collection I have a CRKT M16-13Z. There are a number of things I like about the knife, but sharpening it is not one of them - and I like to sharpen knives. I may not be the best, but I'm pretty good - been doing it since boy scouts.

I have used a diamond stone, Arkansas stone, and ceramic rods on the CRKT. The edge never gets more than almost sharp. I have made a copy of the Sharpening FAQ and am going to study it later.

Does anyone have any tips on getting this CRKT sharp?

I don't treat them any differently than any other knife. I've used crock sticks, the sharpmaker and even a single ceramic rod to put a hair popping edge on them.

Work one side until you get a wire edge and then work the other side until that wire edge is removed and another just forms on the opposite edge. Pop this off with a light stroke or two or on a strop. Should be sharp then.

I was originally trying to do that but I probably wasn't doing the right side like I should have. I like knives that have the same bevel on both sides.

Thanks.
