In the thread about the new M-870's, someone said that Winchester shells sometimes don't extract cleanly in current M-870's.

I don't mind Federal shells, but often have to choose between Winchester and Remington. I've had problems with Fiocchi and won't use them.

I have not been happy with Remington .22 ammo. Dirty, and often jams my semi-auto guns. I've seen boxes of their revolver ammo with bullets not properly seated. One case was crushed at the mouth.

Is Remington shotgun ammo still okay, or better than Winchester's?

I'd never before seen any suggestion that Winchester shells might be substandard.

Comments?

Thanks,

Well you can find somebody that will say just about anything. With that said, I personally have experienced issues with 870's and the cheapest Winchester shells. There have been lots of posts here to the same effect. I don't think that there is anything inherently wrong with them, but they do seem to have issues with newer 870's. I shoot them in my Beretta 390's and never have any problems.

The Remington shotgun shells have always worked very well for me, I just can usually find the Winchesters for less.

I've had great luck with Remington shotshells. I've fired hundreds of rounds of their "Law Enforcement" reduced recoil buckshot and slugs, as well as their "Express" line of reduced recoil buckshot and slugs. I've never had a single bad round or problem of any kind.

I, too, have heard about issues with Winchester shotgun ammunition. Remington and Federal have never given me an issue.

The cheaper Winchester "Promo" type shotgun shells are being loaded in Europe, not by Winchester in East Alton, IL. I've seen them with messed up crimps, crushed sidewalls, etc. I believe they were made in Spain, but not entirely sure.

If you look at the really fine print on the box, it will say where they were made.

Hope this helps.

Fred
