The only time I was tempted to shoot from a road was the time I was on a forest road, on my bicycle, staring down a mountain lion (well, at that point I was off the bike with it between us). He eventually decided that I wasn't food and went on his way.

My Dad gave me words of wisdom from his time on this earth. One of them was as follows, and I have seen it happen in person

"If you want to see a person do the dumbest most irresponsible thing possible give them a bottle of booze, a motorcycle or a gun, stand back and watch".

I live on the mn wi border in the fish head region. you have no excuse shooting in the woods. I can think of at least four maybe five local ranges at various small town clubs around me that the nra built the ranges. no membership is required but if you want to donate or join you can. usually 15 bucks is all it is. fwiw. dc
