Some info from the 94th edition Shooter's Bible which I find interesting, Subject to transcription error:
In the .223 Remington, Remington 55 grain SP is rated at 2747 feet per secondd at 100 yards and 921 foot pounds of energy at 100 yards.
In the 30-30 Winchester, Remington 150 grain Core Lokt is rated at 1973 feet per second at 100 yards and 1296 foot pounds of energy at 100 yards.
The 308 Winchester, Remington 180 grain SP Core Lokt is rated at 2274 feet per second at 100 yards and 2066 foot pounds of energy at 100 yards.
The .35 Remington, Remington 200 grain Soft Point Core Lokt is rated at 1874 feet per second at 100 yards, with 1280 foot pounds of energy at 100 yards.
The 45-70 government, Remington 405 Soft Point is rated at 1163 FPS at 100 yards, with 1227 foot pounds of energy.
In the same caliber (45-70) the Remington 300 Jacketed HP is rated at 1497 FPS and 1492 ft-lbs of energy.
In the .444 Marlin the Rem 240 SP, gives 1815 FPS at 100 yards for 1755 ft-lb of energy.
The 416 Rigsby, Federal 410 Solid gives 2110 feet per second at 100 yards and 4050 ft-lbs.
Other than the fact that in 45-70 Remington ammo is a reputed to be loaded conservatively, I find the comparisons above to be fascinating.
