I went for a range trip with my friend and his adult daughter today. She's something else. She's a real cowgirl (works at horse ranches). I sold her dad my full-sized Beretta PX4 in 40 caliber for what I had in it, and he ended up giving it to her because she didn't have a handgun. She open carries it and shoots it like a beast.

Cowgirl is looking for something smaller than the PX4, I brought the GX4 and PM9 for her to try out, so she could see how a small double-stack 9 feels compared to a small single-stack 9. I brought the CM45 because this was its first range trip.

Taurus GX4 - This was its third or fourth range trip. I like the sights and trigger. I shoot it well for a small pistol. My friend noted that I shoot it more comfortably than the single-stack. Cowgirl put a couple of mags through it and liked it a lot. Then the front sight came loose and she was worried that she'd broken it. I thanked her for locating the problem. I'll figure it out later today, or tomorrow. Anyway, both people who've shot it have enjoyed it and shot it well. I have XXL hands and like a small pinky extension in the flush mag. Cowgirl is average size for a woman and she shot fine with either mag. It hasn't malfunctioned, but I'm annoyed that I have to fiddle with the sight. Oh, and the crappie finish came pre-scratched from the factory. I'm pleased with it as a shooter.

Kahr PM9 - This was its second range trip. Like the GX4, I do much better with a small pinky extension. It hasn't malfunctioned for me or anyone who shot it. I wasn't shooting well today, but I shot it okay. It's small for me. I have to be aware so that my thumb doesn't touch the mag or slide release - though that's the case with me for all small pistols. My friend and his Cowgirl both shot it well and liked it okay. They both prefer slightly larger 9mm pistols. One of the main reasons I wanted it was its small size/weight, so I'm totally okay with that. All three of us shot it fine. No malfunctions. Decent accuracy given its dimensions. I prefer revolvers, but I'll probably carry it sometimes when its flatness is necessary.

Kahr CM45 - I brought it because I just picked it up from my FFL yesterday and I hadn't shot it yet. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! No malfunctions. Normal Kahr trigger. Noticeably larger than the PM9. Even with my big paws I didn't need a pinky extension. We all shot a few mags through it and all of us enjoyed it. Cowgirl was tired and shot it with so-so accuracy, but it made her smile. I shot it okay, kinda meh like everything today, but I was forced to do a Texas "Woo-Hoo!" more than once. My friend isn't a fan of small pistols in large calibers, but after he proceeded to put most of a magazine into the same hole, he found time in his schedule to shoot the rest of my 45's through it (with excellent results). All of us really enjoyed shooting this pistol. It's small and light so the recoil is exciting, but it's well-shaped and the recoil didn't hurt or bother any of us. I intend to shoot this one frequently for fun, and might carry it sometimes in a pocket that's too large for one of my itty-bitty pistols.

She might like the PX4 compact or the subcompact. Or maybe try a Hellcat/p365 XL or whatever the “bigger small” variety is called now.

I think she shot a Hellcat before and liked it. I dunno. I'll let her shoot any of my pistols she wants to shoot, but she's not asking my opinions on anything.

Nice comparison. I purchased an xl toro upper from taurus.com last fall. Big fan of the longer slide and the rmr makes follow up shots fast and accurate. Front sight is easy to swap, glock 9mm is the correct size.
