Hope someone can help. I have a new Savage 110, tactical 6mm Creedmoor, never shot. Hornady OAL for the 105gr BTHP is 2.790. Factory loads will not chamber. I used the Hornady length guage and have 2.565 to lands, with the 105 BTHP. One big difference. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is the headspace ok? If so, find a smith with a 6.5 throater. Not a big deal. Or purchase a throater yourself, not that expensive.

Headspace is good,
Ticks me off to buy a rifle and can't even shoot factory loads.

If headspace is good (go gauge closes), but factory ammo (which passes reference check) is not closing - AND - you confirmed it is because the bullets are jamming into the lands, then you have a short THROAT, not short chamber.

You can have the barrel throated if you like, or ask Savage to do so.

Sounds like a slightly tight throat. Pretty much ideal. Understand your frustration, but likely with the slightest turning with a throater, you will have a fantastic set up.

Same happened to club member, but 6.5 Creedmoor & Hormady factory ammo. He contacted Savage. Savage sent shipping label for return.

Shipping note: Currently Fedex & UPS require shipper to be an FFL. Ask Savage.

Are the scope base screw to long. Hitting the bolt? If not blind hole, the screws can contact the bolt.

Load from the magazine, so the case head slides up the bolt face & under the extractor.

If a round is single loaded into the chamber, the extractor has to jump over the head/case rim. Not all extractors are the same.

Thanks to all for the information.
Had a gunsmith recheck heads pace and scope chamber and bore. All checked out okay, it's going back to Savage. Hopefully they will throat it to cycle the longer bullets.
