"unloaded guns are dangerous" and "unloaded guns can kill" so many times that they literally believe it to be true.

And it is. They make great hammers if the stock/grip holds out. I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of a ruger revolver pistol whip.

I don't think I've run into anyone that dumb yet.

I was asked if my M1 Carbine was gas operated. I said "yes". I was then asked if it was gasoline or natural gas. I said, "Natural gas, and it is so environmentally friendly it generates it itself." He was impressed.

My brother was shot in the buttocks by my step-brother by a gun that he thought was unloaded. The quote might have been referring to instances like this.

I'm not so sure that he isn't right. We all know that guns can function all by themselves, which is why they are so dangerous. Just having a gun in the house risks the gun jumping out, running out the door, and creating mayhem in the neighborhood. We all know guns are getting smarter, and some may have figured out how to fire without ammo! Why else would some localities require that all guns have trigger locks and cables, to secure them safely from escaping? I am so grateful we have such informed and intelligent legislators running our society!

I always unload my guns when I put them away. I thought. I must have forgot once. Actually the chamber was empty but I forgot to unload the magazine and for some reason put it back into the rifle. Thank God, no harm was done but it did shake me up.
