SHOT Day 4: Sharps MilSpec (you read that right)

This was just incredibly cool. ETA is about 30 days (28 now? I'm late getting this posted.)
Basically, it's yet another upper or complete rifle that's in the AR pattern. Except for a few things:
Vortex flash hider that's suppressor ready. PMAG mags come with it, though any AR mags work. Magpul ACS stock, Troy ambi safety, Magpul MIAD grip, proprietary quad rail, forged 7075 upper/billet lower. MSRP on the complete rifle is $2,695 which doesn't sound nearly as expensive once you've looked at the rifle. Seriously cool stuff here.

Basically, it's yet another upper or complete rifle that's in the AR pattern. Except for a few things:
- It's in 25-45 Sharps. This is ballistically similar to .25 Savage, so if you aren't allowed to hunt with .223 in your state, this will help. RCBS has dies, and Federal has signed on to provide ammo in this caliber.
- It uses a self-regulating piston, so you don't need to mess with it as in a FAL. The goal is consistent internal pressure, which should lead to consistent velocity. Atmospheric pressure is part of the mix as well, so changes in elevation should be less of an issue.
- It comes threaded for a suppressor as well. Look at the previous section and know that the system takes into account changes in pressure due to the can as well.
- The bolt is being advertised as being 300% stronger than a regular AR bolt, and the extractor has been "fixed" over the normal AR. Lifetime warranty on both.
- Nitride coated barrel is supposed to last 3-4 times longer than chrome lined barrels.
- 5R rifling method used (less deformation of bullets, more accuracy)
- The trigger is milspec but it's slicked with something (I missed this part, sorry). Quite a bit nicer feel than you would expect.

Forgot to mention: in May they'll have a version of this in a seriously cool (and seriously larger) caliber. Can't say more than that, but I was really impressed. In fact, I think I giggled.

is that a rimmed cartridge?
I really like what these guys are doing. The barrel isn't a solid piece, which you can clearly see in this picture, but we are told that these have survived 50,000 round tests with no adverse effects. So, I'm willing to give it a try. 
I really want to test some .25-45. The .250 Savage is a GREAT deer round, and if this is close enough, it will be a good choice for states like VA (no .22 calibers) or WA (must be over .243). Federal will be making the ammunition initially, IIRC.
