It was sweet. Me, my dad, my brother and his friend all went up to our club's CMP match today to see what it was like. I ended up competing with an AR that I had never shot with iron sights or from anywhere but a bench before, and nailed a 296 (out of 500) at 100 yards.
Shooting from different positions with iron sights was a new, challenging, and thoroughly enjoyable experience.
The guys up at the club were awesome. They had 3 guys from the Navy's Marksmanship Team up there to compete and coach the newbies, and they were happy to get some youth competitors. They also had no entry fee for minors, and free use of a club AR and ammo if needed.
What can I do to improve my score by next month?
