for the first time. It's a 5077 - Express; factory extended mag.; 18" barrel.

I just wanted to see how it cycled shooting birdshot, 00 and slugs.

Overall everything went fine, but the first time that I loaded the birdsot (Remington) shells, the gun refused to feed. It seemed that there was no spring pressure pushing the shells out of the magazine.

Emptied the mag by cycling and pulling the shells out one-by-one; reloaded by putting one in the chamber, and then a few in the tube - worked fine after that.

Is there some parts I need to polish, or did I do something wrong while loading the shells?

Thanks,

Sawdust

I noticed on my 870's that you have make sure you push that last shell well up in the tube until you feel it click into place.

I'm sure others with a lot more knowledge than me will be along shortly.

I have a 5077 that I recently purchased.

On the mag feeding issue, feel with your finger to the top and bottom of the mag tube just inside it. You'll probably feel a raised spot. Mine had the same thing. I haven't gotten it ground down yet, but I've never had it fail me when feeding in the middle of a mag.

Basically, make sure that the last shell you insert is riding on the shell catch, not those lips on the top and bottom.

Thanks for the replies, gentlemen. I'll break it down and see if there is anything that needs attention.
