We had the Pre-state skeet competition going on at our club this weekend, and after the serious skeet targets are done the night games start up.

The first on the agenda was a game of wobble scrap that turned into follow the leader on where the next shooting position was going to be. There was some 70+ yard shots being taken which weeded out quite a few guys. I made it to the last four before I ran out of my 25 alotted shells. The guy who won the event had 4 or 5 shells left of his 25.

Second event was a wobble trap killer at the 29 yard line of the trap line up. I sheared off my front bradley white bead on the barrel of my old M12 and the pins that had the vent rib from moveing also sheared. The rib was slideing out about a quarter inch every shot I took. I ended up shooting off with 1 other man who finally picked up a target that I missed. The lost bead didn't bother me at all.

Third game was another wobble trap from the same yardage. I would take a shot and hammer the vent rib back down with a plastic hammer every shot. We went through almost two boxes of shells before I finally won the last event. :D I still came out in the hole money wise but I had lots of fun.

All in all a great evening with some of the guys I used to shoot registered skeet with. Lots of fun had by all. Sunday the small gauge events are shot and everyone leaves for home early to get ready for the state championships next weekend. :)

:D
Somebody had lots of fun! Congrats Sir!

Joke down here about the night shoots, better to keep hitting and stay in the shootoff, if you are an on- looker the skeeters will either eat you up - or carry you off. :uhoh: :p

My first SX1 , there I am on the 3rd box and my vent rib starts sliding, one of the other shooter brings it to my attn...heck all I was focused on was the front edge of orange. My pard had lost out,and offered his 26" bbl ...at this point ...I was afraid to change my luck...Yep electrical tape works...lasted through me winning the shoot -off. That sucker was staked right quick Monday Morning early - and all others from then on were staked upon my getting them as a preventative measure.

Bradley's ...yeah been there too. By accident my Citori was hit in the gun rack, in falling and bradley came off. This during First box ,at station 4. Someone ran to my car to get the case with my other bbls, ( the 28 and .410) someone went to find the guy that shot the same gun as I . Me, again I'm in another world, all I see is the front leading edge of the orange clay. Ran 'em without a bead. I was in "that zone" and in another world.

I let the fella that does gun repair attending the event put a new one on. I used the 28 ga bbl for the 12, 20 and 28 ga night 'fun stuff"....a lot of fun.

The next tourney , folks gave me electical tape - my shooter's kit even had a roll in it... I took a lot of ribbing...folks did start keeping a roll handy though - might not admit to having...but they did. ;)

"Shotgun is pointed - not aimed" Yes my friend so true - so true...

Thanks for sharing, Congrats again.

Great!!

"The lost bead didn't bother me at all"....

Confirms my suspicions about sights on shotguns.

"The lost bead didn't bother me at all"....

I already have an order into Brownells for a new bead and some pins to put the vent rib back on. I find that I use beads for a reference point only, but if the gun don't line up, it don't work.

It also gave me an excuse to get a few other do-dads on my order that my wife thinks I need to fix my gun. :D
