Shotgun Magazines: Bracket Needed?

In the market for a +2 mag extension for my Remington 870 Police. I'm seeing some models like the factory Remington extension and it uses a barrel bracket that mounts towards the muzzle like this:

Then you have some options like the Vang Comp or Wilson Combat that does not use a barrel bracket, they look like this:

Which one is stronger? I have heard the bracket on the Remington unit can cause POI changes when shooting slugs if it isn't installed the same way each time. I used to have one and never tested for that. Does the bracket increase durability if the shotgun is dropped? Seems like the mag tube on the others just sitting out there could break off or something?

Anyone have any input on this?

Its essential function is to provide a sling mount location. You’ll see that option is snugged against the end of the mag extension where it meets the forend in picture #2.

I imagine strength is more or less unchanged with either, the Remington has the potential to change POI (but likely negligible) while giving more placement flexibility.
