I've been doing a little research into sawed-off shotguns and think I understand it for the most part. If the barrel is measured to be 18 inches from the bolt face and the overall measure is over 26 inches, then it's legal. Does this apply to PGO shotguns? Could one take a full-length shotgun, chop the stock into a pistol grip and the barrel to 18.5 if it's kept 26 or longer in length?

Also came across some info concerning sights... would one be legally required to tap and drill a bead onto the weapon?

Thanks to anyone who can clear this up.

PGO shotguns are the most useless thing on Earth. Read the definition of the legal length of a firearm in both your State and Federal law.

If it's 26" overall and 18" barrel it's legal Federally (you check locally), regardless of how you cut it.

You do not have to have a bead (or any other sight system) on it.

sights are worthless on shotguns for moving and flying targets. Total length as far as Feds are concerned - as mentioned is 18" and 26 overall - what is allowed where you live might be different
