evening chaps,
happy new year to my american brothers.

I am about to start reloading 12 guage. I have lead 6 shot and remmy fig 8 wads. I want to load 1 1/8th loads in 70mm.

i have access to vectan powders and nobel sport powders at half the price of american powders.

But i cant find any decent data for this. Can anyone help me out?

thanks

Hello interlock, I trust the New Year finds you well.
After extensive searches for information to answer your question, I have drawn a blank. I have tried to access their site (Vectan), as well as other pertinent data, but no luck. I'm truly sorry, and I hope someone can help with your request.

I did find this CD ad, available in the UK. Perhaps you know about it already.

Does not Nobel or Vectan have maker's sites with reloading data? Those powders are not readily available here, so data would be hard to come by.

From another forum thread:

As stated by others, this powder is definately NOT ADI AS30N (Hodgden Clays).

It is most likely Vectan AS (in days gone past also marketed as Vectan D20). A medium burner similar to Green Dot.

Check with your source, but a great many of the European Shells are loaded with Vectan Powders and the load you quoted in your original post would most definately be for straight walled cases (Fiocchi/Cheddite etc). I certainly would not attempt to utilise that load in a Winchester/Remington hull as I would suspect pressures would easily go "over the top".

In Australia the Vectan line of powders are currently marketed as follows: Vectan 24, Vectan 28, Vectan 32, Vectan 36 (fastest to slowest burn rate). Reloading data is scarce other than that printed on the Powder Container itself.

It seems the ASA30N would use Clays data and AS would be similar to Green Dot

Here's a list of burn rates - it might give you something to go on:

thanks

thankyou gents,
it seems to me that vectan have not invested quite enough on thier site. No wonder they are a long way back on the list. I have telephoned the distributer, he is sending me by post (remember that) a data sheet.

thanks dale for the pm.

happy new year
